    Bench form revelation

I'm almost to embarrassed to admit this, but hopefully it will help someone to avoid the same mistake as I have been making for the last 2&1/2 decades. Been shooting HP rifles and bolt action slug guns from the bench in the pursuit of achieving the highest level of accuracy as I could for a...

    Help deciphering my groups

Just an update. Pretty well determined the three most likely causes of at least 90% of my fliers I had no solid explanation for, ME, myself and I. Finally have learned proper bench form and wha-la nearly all of the fliers which I simply had no explanation for ceased to occur.

Some times you just get lucky.

OOPS, The above are all 3-shot 100 yard groups. It wasn't just the accuracy that got me so excited, but the consistent POI from group to group that IMHO matters just as much as accuracy. I also was VERY pleased that this loading gave an MV average of 3088fps, same as the Nosler book predicted...

Some times you just get lucky.

I did a butt load of research on what powder to try first for my newly acquired Tikka T3 Light in you guessed it, 300WSM. My data overwhelmingly indicated either RL-17 or H4350. Well H4350 has not been available OTC anywhere near me for months, so I went with RL-17 and as a sub for H4350 tried...

    Rifle Reliability Issues

Never had a malfunction with any of my HPR's including a M700 in .338wm. 116 in 7mmstw, a M700 in 300wm, and a M96 Swedish in 6.5x55, two 336C's in 35 Remington, but I do go over my rifles with extreme care including disassembling them bi-yearly, especially just prior to deer season to the...

    Help deciphering my groups

Thanks for all the helpful input. As was suggested by several astute contributors to my original request for help, I examined my bench form under a microscope of sorts, and once I figured out how to hold a light rifle securely and CONSITENTLY, like magic my groups went from 1.25" to 1.8" to 1""...

    Help deciphering my groups

I will admit I am a little perplexed and find myself without an explanation for the groups I shot today. This was my second range session with my new stainless Tikka T3 Light in 300WSM. Now for what has me at a loss to explain. At my first outing I used Federal Power Shock ammunition to get me...

300 WSM 180 NAB how far off lands?

My first post here hello all. Been hunting with and shooting Nosler PT's, BT's, and now AB's for a long time. Looking to develop a load for my new Tikka T3 light in 300 WSM using 180 grain Accubonds. Did a ton of research and am reading to start setting them anywhere from .030" to.75" from the...
