    .300 Savage Shooters

I have been using RL 15 in a couple of M99 300 Savages and in my Remington 700 Classic in the same chambering. It has worked spectacularly in them all, delivering stellar accuracy and high velocities. Other powders I have used with success include IMR 4064 and Varget. Regards, Eagleye.

    30-06 and moose

I have shot a frieghtcar full of Moose & Elk, mostly with Nosler Partitions. The majority of my Moose & Elk have been shot with the .308 diameter, 180 grain Partition. 30-06 has figured in about half the moose and a quarter of the elk. Never had to track any of them more than about 150 yards...

.300 WSM : Best bullet for hunting ?

I shoot the 30-338; the 300WSM and the 308 Norma Mag. All are very similar in performance. The best bullet, IMHO, is the 180 Partition, with the 180AB right on its heels. I have shot about 20 Elk with these big 30's and the 180 Partition, and have never had any serious tracking to do, this at...

    Retumbo in the 7mm STW

I have a 700 Remington with a 27" Pac-Nor SS Supermatch barrel, and it just loves Retumbo with the 160 AB or Partition. 3300 and under ¾" always. Regards, Eagleye.

    Accubond over 3100 fps

Put another vote in for the 200 Partition. Will break BIG bone and keep on trucking into the vitals. My choice for a big bear that can bite back. Regards, Eagleye.

    270 Winchester & 140 Accubond.

    Here's how much I love the Nosler Accubond. I have them loaded in my 7x57 (140), My 270 (140), My 280 (140), My 7mm Rem Mag (160), My 300 Savage (150), my 30-06 (165), My 30-338 & 308 Norma Mag (180&200) my 30 Gibbs (180), My 8x57 (200) I still shoot the Partition a fair bit as well, since I...

    Not impressed with Winchester brass

I have and use Lapua and Nosler brass, but have been quite happy with Winchester over the years, and continue to use in in chamberings that Nosler and Lapua do not make. I have NO use for Federal brass, and Hornady brass is so similar to Winchester that I wonder if it doesn't come off the same...

Remington rifles: What is your opinion of 700 and Mod 7

While I own several other makes of rifles, Remington 700 dominate my collection by a large margin. I bought my first 700 in 1963, and have loved the model ever since. Like others, I like the looks and feel of the New CDL (have 3 already) my CDL in 270 is a very, very accurate rifle, and will...

    30-06 Reloading ???

Have you actually Chronographed this load??? In My 24" barrelled Remington 700 55.0 grains of IMR 4350 with the 165 grain bullet only makes 2675 across the Chronograph. Regards, Eagleye.

I found the pics just a bit blurry as well, but if I was a betting man, I would say Mountain Lion (Cougar) Regards, Eagleye.

.308 Big Game Load? Which Nosler Bullet?

Banshee; It's called "sectional density" (read penetration) The heavier bullets have greater ability to penetrate deep on the bigger species of game that he will be hunting. The lighter bullet would be great for the lighter animals, but when hunting moose and bear, it's nice to have that longer...

    270 Winchester & 140 Accubond.

JJ; I am using Nosler brass, WLR primer, 60.5 grains of Vihtavuori N165, with the COL of the 140 Accubond set just .015" off the lands. (Please start at 58 grains and work up if you are going to try this load) This load will consistently make a ragged hole at 100 yards, and under 2" at 300...

    270 Winchester & 140 Accubond.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I certainly would not want to give the opinion that I casually shoot game at 600 yards anytime I get a chance. This particular opportunity had all the elements of a "do-able" shot though. It was overcast, absolutely calm, the range was known, I had shot this...

    280 ackley vs. 7mm remington

When one is loading for a Wildcat or an Improved case, it is always tempting to "push the envelope" a little. I have a 30 Gibbs that I have owned a long time. Before I got pressure testing equipment, I was loadin my Gibbs to very close to 300 Win Mag ballistics. I reasoned that since I had no...

    Chrony

Things have indeed come a long way! My first chronograph was a unit that read out a "time" which one then had to look up in a chart in the accompanying manual to get the velocity. What a pain. Congratulations on your purchase! You will find this unit an asset for your reloading endeavors, and...
