I've got a Ruger 77/17 .17 HMR that I mounted a Loopy VXII that is easily one of my most favorite rifles! It has accounted for so many crows, possums, skunks, and groundhogs!!! It's fun to shoot and not an ear splitter or wallet breaker. I like it a lot! But then again I like my Ruger 77/22...

I have a SA NM but have not scoped it because I love the barrel peep rear sight. For you application there a lot of good options; Leupold MK4 models or the Nightforce models. Whatever you choose, do make sure you have the very best scope mount for the M1A. Sadlak industries probably makes...

Thanks so much for the very kind words! The finish you see is Tru-Oil only and with no stain. The Tru-Oil is nearly bullet proof and you don't need anything on top of it.

Hey guys thanks for the kind words! An oil finish is easy to do, maintain, and repair if necessary. The Purdey’s Warthog and the Napier of London gun stock refinishing kits are good products. IMHO, Birchwood Casey's Tru-Oil is also quite an excellent product that is cheap and available...
