Tried the Hornady ELD-X 200 the other day, with the same loads as the SMK 200.
Not really impressed, I must say..... :?
Load #1 (Norma MRP x 71 grs.) = too mild : Cases showed slight smoke...
Load #2 (Norma MRP x 72,4 grs.) = Big step up on recoil compared to #1, although quite "round" -...
I've run a three 3-shot loads quick test the other day, with a different bullet (Sierra MK200) but based on the QLoad data from this 3D.
100 meter distance (roughly 110 yds.) from lower load (target #1) to the highest (#3).
I used "F" for the cold bore shot Load # 1.
Considering the kind of...
Thanks TackDriver284 ! Appreciate your help. (y)
Roughly, I know I'll have to reduce the powder charge by 6-7% while going from light brass (Norma) over to RWS.
I am still trying both, to find out which is better.
I'd appreciate if Some of you Guys could run the Quickload data for the following :
300 Winchester Magnum
Hornady 200 ELD-X bullet
Norma MRP Powder
Norma Brass
Federal GM215 primer
C.O.A.L. : 3,464" (88,00 mm.)
26" 1-11" barrel twist rate
Approximate Temp. : 60°F
Approx. Elevation : 2000 Ft...
OK, here some results.
3 shot group each load, @ 184 yds. distance :
73 grs.
75 grs.
77 grs.
I think I'm gonna give a try to the 73 and 77, although, if the results repeat themselves, I'll be more likely to go with the heaviest load, as difference in Velocity may be...
Some updates....
Went to the range with the suggested Seating Depth (0.1" Jump) with three different loads.
Here's the best group, obtained from 79 grs. H1000 - 3 shots @ 185 yds.

Nothing fancy but good enough for hunting, I'd say....
Hi Folks,
what is the best seating depth for the .30 cal. 180 grs. Nosler Accubond, in a .300 Win.Mag. ?
So far I have tried .03" off the lands, with not so great results.... :(
Maybe the poor performance does not depend on seating depth, though....and that's why I am asking the question...
I would appreciate if some of you compassionate Souls  could run the Quickload data for the following :
300 Winchester Magnum
Berger 185 VLD Hunting
Norma MRP Powder
Norma Brass
Federal GM215 primer
C.O.A.L. : 3,57" (90,75 mm.)
26" 1-11" barrel twist rate
Approximate Temp. : 60°F...
If possible, I'd need an indication for Muzzle V/0 from two loads I am currently using.
Barrel is a 6,5x57 RIMMED - 24" length and 1 in 8" twist rate
Load 1 : RWS Brass - Nosler Ball.Tip 120 grs bullet - CCI Br2 primers - Norma 204 powder x 46 grs. - COAL 78,60 mm. (3,09")
Load 2 : RWS Brass...
Some updates...
Tried the 77,5 grs. Load @ 100 meter :
Not too good I'd say, so went back to the 74,5....
I've shot three shot group at 100 meter. Two shots within half an inch apart and the third more than one inch....
I decided to try a longer range anyway...
Here's a 5 shot...
Thanks TackDriver for taking the time.... (y)
I know Berger reccommends even a 1:9" twist rate for this bullet, but I've "heard" Guys having no problems to stabilize it with a 1:12" and, since I like the idea, I thought I'd give it a try...
If it turns out it doesn't work I will get back on...
Thanks Doc ! (y)
I am really looking for velocity of the following Load :
.300 Win.Mag. 1 in 11" 26" barrel
Hodgdon H1000 powder x 74,5 grs.
Berger Hybrid Target 215 grs.
Norma brass
Federal GM215 primer
COAL : 3,68" (93,50 mm.)
