    Carne el pastor

I use almost the identical recipe but its call Carne Guisada, it is one of my favorites..I also make Carne Colorado, and its highly spiced cubes of meat in a red enchilada type sauce..I am ranch raised on the Texas Southwest Mexico border, I eat a lot of Mexican food, its my staple diet..

any body have a good recipe for smoked fish

Pack the fish with about an inch of brown sugar and smoke it with Mesquite. You can add chile powder or I prefer Jalapenos ground and packed under the brown sugar.

    Elk Chili

Your using the wrong beans, venison goes with the Pinto, pico de Gallo, etc. :)

    Introduced newbies to antelope meat...

Antelope, deer, moose, elk, buffalo, chicken fried is hard to beat, if you dislike the so called wild taste thaw it in hotwater and drain the blood from the meat , it will be grey but mild and tasty..I also cut it thin and fry it hot on a iron plate, cover it with Pico de Gallo, or the hot sauce...

    leupold down?

I/ve used Leupolds for close to 70 or more years, probably sent 3 or 4 back because I shot the really big bores like the 505 etc., they fixed them and sent them back, broke one in half when a horse rolled off the side of a hill, they sent me a new one...Best guarantee in the biz.....

Opinions please! Scope for Under $400

Why change and why new, buy a nice used Leupold for $200 in a 2x7x28 or even a 4X fixed, it will suit any hunting situation you get into..To me these $500 and up scopes are nothing more than a rip off, they serve no earthly purpose unless your a target shooter or long range shooter an I am neither.

    Tell me about these scopes

I require high dollar binocs, but a scope to me is nothing more than a rear sight, I put the X on the target and pull the trigger, no need to count the fleas on what I shoot...My choice on a varmint rifle is a 3x9 or 4x12 vari-x11 Leupold, and used if I can find one..The guarantee is still...

    Under $200 binocs ideas

Depends on what you require...My favorites are the 8x30 Leicas but they cost plenty, but I make my living using them...You have to be prepared to give up a lot of detail when you buy $200 binocs, you simply get what you pay for..I would rather shoot iron sights and have a good set of binocs...

    Optics Warranty-Leupold or Zeiss

I know more than a few friends that tied up their optics with Zeiss and other foreign made optics for months and got a big repair bill when they finally got them back...I suppose that made me a confirmed Leupold fan, they guarantee the scope even if you bought it second hand, they have the...

Scope suggestions for a Kimber Montana 260 Rem

Big clunky scopes on such a trim nice little rifles grates on my soul..I would personally opt for a 3X fixed Leupold on such a gun, and Id add iron sights for use with Talley or Leupold QD mounts. At most a straight 4X Leupold and if one must have a variable then a 1x4 Leupold. I see no need...

    Winchester M70 Tigger

I use stones on all trigger jobs..The mod. 70 trigger is the best design ever, second best is way down the line as far as I'm concerned...Today, after many years of need, Brownells is selling mod. 70 triggers for the mod. 98 Mauser, its been a long time coming, but they ain't cheap!

What is the best fastest cleaner you ever used?

For copper I'll go with Wipeout, but if its an old gun, and really hard to clean, I will use the old timers bench rest miracle stuff called Blue Goop, you have to make it yourself...One quart of commercial 25% Amonia, one cup of Hydrogen Peroxide, you an toss in a copper penny or bullet to turn...

    rifle recomendations

To move up from a 7-08 or a 7x57, most of the suggestions are not that much better and those that are become recoil questionable... I would suggest a 30-06 but if that's not on her agenda then perhaps a 338 Win., the 9.3x62 , or the 35 Whelen..all of which can be loaded down if need be, but you...

    308 Norma Magnum

I'm presently shooting the 300 Win. mag. and its as good as any of the rest as far as I'm concerned..My all time favorite of the 300s has always been the old 300 H&H and it can be handloaded to beat all but the 300 Wby, but get mighty close to the Wby in fact...but I sold my old pre 64 mod. 70...

    .30-06 recommendation

I have a large gun cabinet, I build custom rifles, however I am primarily in the hunting business and have been for 40 plus years..Hunted all over the world..If I have to pick one gun it would be without hesitation the 30-06 with 180 or 200 gr. Nosler or Woodleigh bullets..I have used it on...

    Rebore vs. Rebarrel

I have used High Plains Reboreing (Norman Johnson) on many occasions, mostly 8x57s to 9.3x62 or .30-06 to 300 Win. mag on one occasion..All of them shot an inch with 3 shots! 3 shor groups are fine for a hunting rifle IMO. A rebore is half the price of a new barrel at about $200. Then you...

    35 Whelen Imp.

The larger the bore the more copper to be removed, its a square inch or MM thing, but not a real problem, use Wipe Out... It appears to me you need to cut the throat deeper and you may need to lengthen the magazine some..both easy projects, but should have been done by the gunsmith to start...

    300 win mag 165gr vs 180gr PT

I like 180s in my 30-06 at 2700 plus and the 200 gr. Nosler in my 300 Win. mag at 3000 FPS is about as awesome a killer of any game animal from deer on up.. I use the 150 and 165 in my 308 Savage mod. 99F... In my experience I have only observed the 165 and 150s used in the 300 Win. mag and...

50 gr Sierra Varminter or Blitzking for Coyote in 22-250?

Most any 22-250 bullets will work on coyotes. Some of the locals here use the 40 gr. Nosler BT as it blows up inside the coyote and doesn't tear them up..I've used many 22-250 bullets or all sorts on coyotes and they all work pretty good..If I was limited to one bullet it would be the 60 gr...

    338-06 Ackley for moose

Most of the bullets mentioned will work on Moose, they don't die anyway until the decide to...My option would depend on the terrain I would be hunting..If shots might be long then the 210 Nolser partition would be my choice and if its thick stuff the 250 Nosler partition would be my...
