Congrats, great dear, nothing I enjoy seeing more than a pic of a happy hunter with his prize, it's like sharing the moment and satisfaction of a great time afield . It's not like being there but damn close in my books, again great dear .
Yes a 308 AB, ever since I read some where that some 303's had tight barrels as well as sloppy ones,I'd thought I would try and low and behold the gun my dad have me did great with about every 308 bullet I run trough it, last year I used 140 mono flex to kill a white tail at 80 yards, great job...
I don't know how my hunting season is going to pan out, so took this buck straight on at 200yards because he was dumm enough to let me walk to a tree to steady up, plus I wanted to give the 150 AB a work out in my 303 British, bullet pic in bullet test section.there was only 10 min of legal time...
Bullet leaving barrel @2600 fps, hitting white tailed buck straight on at just shy of 200 yards. Bullet impact was was high in chest because all I could see was head and neck white patch. Was some tall grass covering his chest but I new I could get bullet to him if I aimed straight. It was 10...
According to the Outdoor Life Book Of World Records the biggest white tail take was November 1926 by Carl Lenander Jr of Minnesota witch Feild dressed at 402 pounds, and the local conservation officer calculated live weight to be 511 lbs. Alberta records indicate white tail as big as 420 lbs...
I'm a fan of longer throats, I never worry about the lands, always crimp when I can, usually keep a bullets to factory overall length or shorter, hunting loads is where it's at for me without remortgage on the house to buy components. I don't consider myself that great or knowledgable but...
Tried varget and h-4895, the later with 51.5 grns still speed was up with 3115 fps but a great group with holes touching except the one I accidentally loaded with different case making it a 1 1/8" group, sorry no pic because I forgot to pull target, rain destroyed, but I will have to confirm...
I had made some great loads with 150 ab, s at 2600 fps, but ran out, havent hit the right day in oulets to find more. I was able to pick up the ttsx and ill make them a great flat 300 yard killer with great weigt retention and pentration , for the Parker Hale ill load them up to 3200-3300 fps to...
I think 2800-2900 fps will be fine guys, I've loaded them down to 2300 fps, shot a deer, tested on 4ltr jugs with perfect petal after 1 and a perfect imprint on paper just behind all at one hundred yards. I know my bullets, if I was as good at the stock market id be doing fine lol.
Looking to load a reduced load fot daughter in her axis rifle, darn thing kicks to much for her. I have varget , h 4350, r17, in what I think will be the best. I do have others and will take all info offered.
