    Kentucky rifle opener

Opening morning is upon us here in Kentucky. My youngest nephew was unable to come down this weekend, so for the first time in 6 years I will be hunting alone on opening day. I am looking forward to it but really wish I had one of the kids going too. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

    Bringing a little luck....hopefully.

Last year was a rough one. In the 6 years we have lived in Kentucky the kids I take hunting have never failed to kill their deer and I usually have at least two down. Last year my oldest nephew missed a couple of shots and the youngest never even saw a deer. So in order to appease the hunting...

    .41 mag hunting load

This year I finally decided that I needed to work up a good load for my Smith 58. So far I have only tried some 210 gr. Noslers loaded with 2400. With open sights, it's a little tough to get a very tight group, but they patterned decently at 50 yards.....certainly good enough for a deer...

    New Youth Rifle

I have decided that I need to invest in a new rifle for next season. The best part of deer season to me is taking out the kids. I set a rule from the beginning that they had to be 13 before I would take them. First my nephew, then a friends son and next year both my daughter and my youngest...

    Small KY 8

Managed to kill a small 8 this morning. He came in over the hill right next to me at a trot and when he was at about 10 feet I got him to stop. The 6mm loaded with GMX's did their work and he made it about 75 yards. I thought my season was over but the daughter got pretty excited about it and...

    Opening day in KY

Well after a loooong wait the boys came through. Half an hour of shooting light left and five deer walk out in front of me and my buddies son. He lines up on the closest one and the Winchester 88 barked. The deer disappeared into the treeline and we stood up to stretch. Looked over and my...

    Winchester 88

Found out tonight that I am the winning bidder on an 88 in .308. They gun isn't in the best of shape but the action and bore are solid from what the seller has told me. The barrel is rusted up and the stock has seen better days. The plan is to start a refinishing project on the rifle and at...

    Factory Seconds...

I know this is a Nosler forum, but I thought I might pass this along. Midway currently has 80 grain 6mm/.243 Barnes ttsx blemished bullets in stock for $23 per 50. From what I have seen that's 10 bucks cheaper than anywhere else....hard to beat that. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/678359...

    Load development..

I assume that everyone has seen the small packs of various brand bullets they sell now for load development. It seems like a great idea, but the way I develop a load these simply won't work. I have always loaded in groups of 3 with the same bullet and powder.....as in 3 rounds of 43.5 grains...

    Time for a change

For the past 4 years I have been shooting Hornady 100 gr Interlocks in my model 600 6mm because the gun loves them, the price is good and they are easier to get a hold of locally. Last year I had two deer run off after hitting them at no more than 100 yards. The first was a yearling doe...

    6mm remington

I was reading through some of the old posts and saw someone talking about loading the 90 gr. e-tip for his 6mm rifle, of course now I can't find the post. I have been thinking about loading the e-tip for my 6mm and would like to find out what powder and so on he used. Anyone know who posted...
