300gr Barnes tsx 45-70

Looks like some excellent penetration, that spitzer design should work nicely from your 1885.
 
I run the 400 gr. Barnes buster in my guide gun up in Alaska. It's a hammer on porcupines. Never had to shoot a bear with it yet.
I'll try to collect one from a jug test this summer. It would be interesting to compare with the 300 gr.

The picture does not show but the pedals tore off the one side. Then again how many animals are made of wood and sand. I just use that media so I could capture the bullet. I was getting tired for lining up 15 water jug to get one bullet that's a lot of milk to drink.
