Well I did it, bought me one of them slick muzzleloaders to go after Mr Big this season and got a chance to shoot it yesterday. It's a Savage 10ML II.

First the shop sold me the wrong sabot's/bullet combo(I really know nothing about them) and I had three miss fires with the bullet "plopping" out the end of the barrel with no charge being ignited. So my buddy calls his MZ guru and we figured out the problem. He had his smokeless MZ there as well but he shot 45 cal, not 50. He remembered he had some 295 gr power belts at his house and it was getting dark. So we high tailed it to his house and grabbed them and high tailed it back to the range. I put in my charge and stuffed the ole powerbelt in there and pulled the trigger and BOOM! Yes! So I loaded another round and BOOM! Now were cooking with gas........

Here's my 50 yard shots........

Then I moved to 100. Shot once to make sure I was on paper. Made adjustments and shot a three round group. I only had one charge left so I adjusted and it landed right where I wanted it. About 1.5 high at 100 and pretty darn close to dead center. This will get me going for now and I'll play with charges/powders down the road. For now this works great for me. I used 43gr of IMR SR4759 and 295gr Power belts.

I had that one. The savage is a shooter. I had incredible difficulty ramming sabots in the barrel!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent work, Mike. You've done good. Now, go tag that fine buck.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to get back out. Season opens Saturday for MZ, but I'll be hunting in a coyote calling comp and won't be able to go but might carry my MZ just in case I see something I can't live without........

NICE! Looks like it is ready Mike. It'll be cool to see how it works out for you.
