Encore 7mm-08

Congratulations on the Encore 7-08. That is going to make for one smooth shooting rig.
A 140 gr BT is just about perfect.

Just bought a T/C Encore 7mm-08 for hunting. Looking for a load using 140 gr BT or 140 Rem PSPCL. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Don't have any specific loads, but maybe look at RL15 or anything in that burn rate.

Do you have some powders on hand your looking at using?

36gr of imr3031 and a sierra 140gr gameking was a mild load i had for my 7mm-08. When i was young. Killed to many whitetail to count with that load.

I find the 7-08 easy to load for . it seems like most anything will shoot well and then you can mess around to get a good to great shooting load .

RL17 should give more velocity than other powders while giving good accuracy . I use RL17 with 140 grain berger bullets in a remington rifle . (this load is over book max so I won't give the grains ). I use this for long range shooting .

I use 43.2 grains of IMR4064 in a tikka rifle with 139 BTSP Hornady bullets . this is close to a max load or maybe over max by a little . so as always , start low and work up to this powder amount . this is my main whitetail hunting set up . it shoots well . I've killed a bunch of deer with this combo .

in a browning X-bolt I use a slightly reduced load of H4895 , 39.0 grains with a 120 ballistic tip .this load is accurate too with recoil about the same as a max load in a 243 with a 100 grain bullet . with the reduced recoil it is a good choice for women or kids .

I've been considering one of these for a while- does anyone know what sort of speeds the 7-08 can reasonably produce from a 15" barrel?

Saw an Encore the other day in a 25-06. Pretty impressive on the range. One of these days....

Hodgdon is showing speeds of 2500 - 2700 fps with a 130 gr bullet, from a 15" 7mm-08.

Go to their online "Data Center" and look up 7mm-08 in the pistol section. Lots of 15" info there.
