Hey fellas

I just purchased 16 lbs of wc860 from pats reloading. Does anyone have any recipes for this powder? I am thinking 300 & 338 Ultra mag loads. seems like a really slow powder. Thanks

Craig

It is a very slow powder. It's my goto powder in the 7mm STW.
I've also shot it in the 300 RUM.

What bullet were you planning to shoot in the 300 RUM?

I will be trying the various weight and styles i have just to find loads specific to animals or activities. I do happen to believe this rifle and the 200gr AccuBond or 190 Matchking are made for each other :'). I would also like to try some heavy bergers on elk , but i don't know if i can risk not using the AccuBond for elk. its just too much work to take chances with such big animals . do you have any loads for 300 or 338 ultra with 860. i have heard to use 870 or 8700 as data but i have not confirmed that

Tyr to get a hold of Ridgerunner. He uses super slow powders like that.

start with AA8700 data and work up to your max, when you get a clean burn, your right at 60k PSI, I tend to run mine just a tad sooty so it should be around 55-57 K psi.

WC 860 is listed on my burn chart at #233 with 8700 at #232, and H1000 at 235
Just remember it is temp sensative so don't use your max loads in hot weather unless you work them up when its hot.

edited cause I found a link.

Craiger, My Lovely wife, downloaded a virus onto the computer where I keep all of my chronograph data. I'm writing this to you now on a new build. As soon as I'm able to recover my chrony data, I'll be happy to share it with you. It might be a couple of days. If memory serves, we have some good data for 165, and 200gr bullets.

I would appreciate you sending your data whenever you can. I just thought to myself that surplus powder makes perfect sense. Its cheap you get lots of it and for the 50 BMG or what not this stuff has to be slow. I will be trying to use the load data from AA8700 and working up. The use of the chrony on this one seems pretty important. i think it should be pretty easy to find a load. I originally wanted rl-25,h1000,or retumbo but thanks to cabelas inability to keep any kind of inventory i started looking elsewhere. I have been told this powder may be dirty or sooty but ill just have to clean better. I have ordered federal 215 mag primers (i actually found some) i guess they burn the hottest so maybe it wont be that dirty. Thanks and good luck with tha puter
