Let's see those long-range hunting rifles!

The second furthest deer I've shot was with a 300RUM using 180 BT's. It was 813yds. Back then the BT's were made tougher in 180gr .30 caliber and up. All the lighter ones were pretty explosive. I needed the toughness since I was shooting them about 3350fps. I think the BT is a great design and would be better if they refined it a bit for a higher BC but they work pretty well as is.
you don't need a good bullet in high intensity cartridges for those 800 yard shots, you need them for the unexpected 200yard ones. at 307 yards the AccuBond will fail at 3600 fps MV.

I've shot tons of rockchucks with .30 150gr BT's at 3600fps. I wouldn't want to try that on a deer after seeing the carnage on a little rockchuck.

 Ya, I think 3600 fps is a little bit outside the performance envelope Nosler intended...

What does stand up for you at 3600

almost nothing, the 200 gr wildcats did pretty good at 3300, had 1 AccuBond hold togather at an impact velocity of 3520 fps into a block of hard maple, so I don't shoot them much closer than 500 with that rifle.

Here is my new Long Range Thumper...Christensen Arms Carbon Fiber Barreled 300 RUM with 30mm 4.5-14x40 CDS with Windplex. Playing with 180 accubonds at 3350-3400 FPS. That will get me to 900 yards on the 1 turn CDS. (BTW, 180 bullet at 3400 FPS packs a wallop way out there)

Rifle with scope and rings/bases weighs 7 pounds 12 oz - thank goodness for the vias brake....

That looks pretty nice. Hard not to like a 180 running out at that sorta speed. When does it get some range time?

I saw some of those rifles in Sportsmans yesterday. They look pretty nice.

"Thumper" .300 Winny, seems to shoot everything I've fed it exceptionally well.

So this is my GAP converted TRG-42 to a 300 Norma Magnum. I only had 50 rounds down the tube prior to this, but before our elk season I punched these three holes through the 19" round 1/4" Hardox Steel. The first two were right at 12 o'clock and brought down the steel from the tree it was wired to, the third was at 11 o'clock-539 yards.

Steel Target picture is turned counterclockwise for some odd reason, and not on my end?

Shot this the other day with the DD MK12 at 539 yards using a 77 SMK at roughly 2645 fps. I have a custom BDC reticle for that bullet in the US Optics 1-8 scope.

So far it's been just as accurate out to 600 yards as 100 yards! I'm sure I could but rounds out to 800 yards with it, but I can't get that far from my property to that target on the hillside unless I want to go out to 1,300 yards, which is way too far for this gun!

Oh, these are shot off the bipod in field conditions at a uphill 10% slope. I rotated the picture on my end clockwise and it still shows up this way, so what gives?

Cool rifle! (y)
Thanks Guy! It is honestly The most accurate long range rifle I have ever shot, and with the weight of the rifle and the TBAC 338BA suppressor there isn't a lot of recoil or muzzle blast, and it is a pleasure to shoot even for a .30 caliber 230 gr. bullet traveling at 2,900 fps.

Here's my Lazzeroni Warbird running the 212 ELD-X bullets at 3120 fps and a SD of 6.3
Manners MCS-T stock
Timney Elite Trigger
Little bastard brake
Proof Research Barrel
DMR LLC put it all together for me, he's one of the best!

200 yards, normal group for this beast!

They were, and frankly still are the top of the heap for velocity in either of their long or short magnums! I had a 8.59 Galaxy in a McBros Action wearing a Lilja barrel in a High Tech stock, super light and shot well, but my barrel was too thin for my liking nowadays.

John Lazzeroni was a sharp guy had a full line of short and long magnums before the RUM, and WSM cartridges. Which made him way ahead of the big manufactures.

Great rifle he's got there from the looks of it!

I did load development for a passel of Warbirds, Firebirds and Patriots. They did develop some velocity, that's for sure.
