The box of my .338 definitely says RSM. The internal stuff is as I previously described. The other difference is that there is only one folding leaf on the rear sight. These were known as the Express models, as you note.
Very heavy, but that's probably just right for a .458 Lott. I had a .375; it shot great, but was too heavy and bulky to suit me.
The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the metal strap that is used for the recoil lug. The lug takes it's purchase in the fore end, the strap engaging a small...
Not that difficult to do w/ the disc sander mentioned above, and much better by using a jig such as this one from Brownell's (to be the stock contours to match well):

In my experience, it depends on the rifle. I have a couple rifles that shoot decidedly better with a fouled bore, and I mean fouled to the tune of over 20 rounds down the pipe.
I think way too much is made over eliminating all copper from a rifle bore, and believe that too many trips of a...
I would definitely rework the existing trigger. It's easy to do, you don't need to buy a new spring or other parts (I clip about 1 1/2 turns from the existing spring), can work it down to about 3# or slightly less.
I've also put in a Timney trigger, and while it's a good one (for $100 or so)...
"The final load was 67.0 H4350, WW cases, Fed 215 match"...That's pretty impressive, as I load 72 gr of that powder w/ 180 grain NPs and ABs and get right at 3,000 fps (24" barrel). My experience w/ this cartridge and having used a couple chronographs to clock 300 Win Mag loads says this is...
No word on price yet, but he's working through production, refining cost data, etc.
I might add that this isn't cheap plastic, it's Delrin, a superb and very hard material. The workmanship is tremendous - precise, sharp, no burrs, etc.
No word yet on how they will be marketed. It really is a slick tool, very precisely made and simple to use. Will pass additional info as Jerry moves the project into production.
All, Jerry Schmidt of Montana has designed and built a wonderfully simple and effective tool, Reticle-Tru, for getting reticles aligned on rifles. No bubble levels, these are aligned with the rifle and mounts, making it easy to get the vertical crosshair plumb with the rifle.
I've been testing...
The Enfield is a great rifle for a custom job in a big caliber, but is hugely expensive to rework. The aforementioned difficulty in barrel removal, conversion to cock on opening, smoothing out the action to better lines (including removing the "ears") are all good moves, but expensive at...
I've loaded for the 7x57 alot since 1976. The most accurate load I have found is a stiff load of H414 (W760) and a good 140 grain bullet (BTs are excellent). However, I don't like the carbon fouling associated with H414 (I use magnum primers for all ball powders, this included), and have since...
We get cart before horse in discussing caliber before understanding what he'll use if for and how, in what sort of country.
If elk or similar is on the agenda as the main event, hard to go wrong with a 300, assuming he's an experienced shot. Too many folks get magnum rifles, are afraid of...
