My version of a left hand 284 Winchester

She's a dandy, for sure! Great cartridge, and apparently you have a shooter on your hands. Congratulations on the rifle. I do like the WSM's. I have a 270 and 325, a Tikka and Savage, respectively. Both hold a special place with me.

    Personalized call opinions

Never made a slate in Zebrano wood before. It’ll be a one of a kind, and I think it’ll sound great! One way to find out. When I get the new bearings in the lathe and my dust collection system upgraded, I’ll get right on it.

    Tikka 7-08

Yeah, seems like something is amiss, crown, optics, rings, action screws. that combo should have been a cake walk. When you get that settled, try some reloder 17.

    New Tipped Hammer bullets!

speaking of Hammer bullets, Here's a good read. A bit technical, but easy enough to grasp. Seems to track with people's real world experience. Hammer Bullets Pressure Testing

    New Tipped Hammer bullets!

Yep, over on the Hammer time forum they say the bullets are supplied with a jig. You drop the tip in, set the bullet in the jig ,and lightly pop it with a soft faced hammer like nylon or brass. I actually think that process seems kind of fun, although I may change my mind after 100, or so LOL

    308 Win Load Development

I don't think you'll have a problem getting to .5 MOA. Seems like the ABLR's either shoot really well or totally suck, for me anyway. Well maybe "suck" isn't the right word, accuracy is in them, it just takes way to much coaxing to bring it out. But those results lead me to think they're going...

    Increase trigger pull?

Yep, don't want lingering effects. I have to go back friday and see what the Doc says. Hopefully I can wait 3 months, but if not, I guess just go ahead and get it done, and take a medical leave from work. After all, we don't pay short term disability insurance not use it.

    Increase trigger pull?

Well, it’s not so much missing hunting season, which is a big deal, but because I left for a year and come back, I lost all my vacation. I won’t be eligible for more time off until I’m back for a full year in September. Unless I want to take unpaid time.

    Increase trigger pull?

I’m doing my best to hold off, but spending all day gripping a steering wheel only exacerbates things. Doc says I’ll start dropping things soon, then I’ll have no choice but to go ahead in. Right now the Immobilization braces work well to relieve the symptoms, but those are a nighttime thing. I...

    Increase trigger pull?

So, I have cubital tunnel syndrome, which causes pain and numbness in the elbow and fingers when it flares up. As of late the loss of feeling in the fingers happens more often, and is more severe. I have difficulty "feeling" how much pressure I'm putting on triggers, I think I may be better...

They both have new homes. Hopefully in a couple weeks I’ll have new bearings and motor capacitors installed in the lathe and be back up running. I should have taken it off line a month ago, those bearings have been singing!

One is a blasted crystal in zebrano. There's a hand etched turkey track in the crystal. Comes with a rosewood striker with a Dymondwood top. The blasted area will not need conditioning. $50 TYD. This design has really been getting it done this year. Next there’s a copper set in rosewood with...

Good start. Might as well finish

Found an AR buffer retainer spring in a drawer. It’s a good start on a new build. Only prudent to finish, I was raised not to be wasteful. 😂 thinking about a fast twist 243 AR10.....Funny thing is, we lost the one for my daughter's grendel when putting it together, it's been running a spring...

    2023 Hunting Season

Yes they are a menace. I had to give up using them in the ulra-light Mossberg turkey thug because you had to wait for your eyes to roll back to the front to see if you hit anything 😂 the Winchester XSP is better, but still pretty brutal.
