    30-30 150 NBT question?

Thanks Pard, I will certainly keep that in mind! I have a small amount of Speer 130FN Hot Cores that I know will hold up and be a great flat shooter. I want to use these Noslers mainly as plinkers, woods loafing/shooting and coyotes mainly. Time and testing will decide what I shoot mule deer...

    30-30 150 NBT question?

Yes sir, I believe they do that by the big open cavity with the ball inserted. All NBTs, as you know, are very thin jacketed up front. But, the fact they have that thicker jacket that culminates to a solid base is significant. Even IF I could push it 2500+, I just don't see how that could...

    30-30 150 NBT question?

Hold it, I finally found a picture of a sectioned 150 RNBT, it does indeed have the Solid Base! Whoopee! I can't push it fast enough in this Marlin to hurt it, ha. Should be a good killer around 2500-2600 for sure!

    30-30 150 NBT question?

The 150gr Ballistic Tip made for the 30-30..anyone know if this has the "solid base, thicker jacket at the base" of other NBTs? It's the one with the plastic ball for a nose over a big cavity to open fast. My concern is how fast can I push it in the Ackley before it comes apart, or will it come...

    Chiappa wildlands 45/70

You did good my friend! "To me" I don't see how "anyone" in Alaska (read big bear country) who lived out in the Rough would not love a 45-70! I "shot one" of those Grizzly Loads 460 HC out of a Marlin Cowboy 26incher. Dear Lord! I thought for a split second I had torn all the gristle loose and...

    A Return to the 30-06

My Son in Law inherited his grandpa's "Sears" Model 98 in 30-06. His grandpa came from Yougoslavia, fought the Nazis with Marshal Tito. He immigrated here right after the war. My SIL had the trigger adjusted to 3#, had the stock bedded/floated and replaced the fogged up old Redfield with a newer...

    .338 win ballistic tips

I used the 180 Accubond out of a 338 RUM on a big Aoudad. 250yds through both shoulders, quarter size exit hole, acted like a Partition. I had that baby cooking right at 3500fps! It was one flat shooting bullet! I now just have a 338 WM for a Medium and I too like to shoot light bullets on one...

Never owned a 7mm Mag - not sure I will

I used a Mod 700 BDL 7MM RM most for about 10yrs. It loved the 140 NBT and the 150 PT. I "almost" had it reamed out to the 7mm/300WBY but its 24" barrel changed my mind. I always wanted a 7mm Super Mashburn, but somehow got too busy with the STW and the RUM and by then I was jaded, ha. I've...

    A Return to the 30-06

LB- I once found a older but like new Sako A5 in 30-06 in a Pawn shop, bought it for a 'song". I had it tricked out, scoped, it shot everything I put though it under an 1 1/4"! Sometimes less than 1/2"! It was one of those I had to sell to pay off penalties of "ObammCare"!! Arrgh! ha

    A Return to the 30-06

I can't remember just how many '06s I have owned/used for last 54yrs! But my latest is the 'as yet unfired" Tikka. Just can't see my Life without an '06 in it!! :)

    Ordered Another Tikka!

I was "astonished" at (a) how simple it was to change the trigger spring and (b) what a marked difference it made in pull weight! The Tikka trigger is a work of art to me!

    Ordered Another Tikka!

Well you know Bob...some of those "plain girls" at the HS dances could really "cut a rug", ha! I "can almost bet" the Tikka will shoot, and still have better "looks" than a Savage, ha. I picked it up today, took it over to my smiths. He put a lighter trigger spring in and had an Air Soft Recoil...

    I couldn't resist, Winchester Model 70

Sorry Guy, I guess I missed the part of you having a heart attack! I always thought of you as a very athletic type outdoorsman! Hope all is well and you get back on your game! My prayers are for your total recovery!

    Ordered Another Tikka!

I've only owned (had made up) one 416 Taylor back in the day...it was one loud ( more loud than kicking) but still a little (20" barrel) kicking devil ( even with a brake!) in the light rifle I had it in. Can't imagine a tikka in one, ha.

    Ordered Another Tikka!

I fully hear you on the tool part, but just saying, for me, at 70, slowing down "just a hair", I want my tools to be "SnapOn" and not Montgomery Wards, lol. You gotta love this stuff!

    Ordered Another Tikka!

All my relatives ( well, my cousins boys and their boys now) all love Savages. They love playing on the mud of SE Texas ,( on 4 wheelers) and inevitably have wrecks, ha. They love the fact they can go to Academy ( Beaumont/Houston) and get a cheap Savage/scope Combo ( usually in 7 Mag) "right...

    Ordered Another Tikka!

I've only owned 2 in 243 before, but they both shot easy 3/4" with anything I put in them! I do love the Mod 700 MR, ( the 90's years) BUT they can be a literal 50/50 gamble, what with that pencil thin barrel. Plus, they always felt a tad muzzle light for me. Same way with the Mod 70 XTR FWTs...
