You should forget about developing anything RL for the time being unless you already know what you’re doing. H4350 is very good in .243 for 90 gr bullets… heavier and I’d lean to IMR 7828sc and H1000 personally but H4831 is good as well and there’s others in that range that I haven’t tried.
I know that Molly coating has really fallen out of favor but from my experience, I have seen no difference in pressure between molly coated mono’s and load data for uncoated bullets. I’m most cases, I’m pushing beyond max published data by a grain or two of powder before finding pressure signs...
I’ve clocked 140gr E-tips at 3300fps out of my 7 mag. Accuracy wise, 3300fps was OK and could maybe be tuned but 3250fps was a bit better right out of the gate. I haven’t spent any time dialing the E-tips in, only looked for the max load.
If I have a pack, I assume that I have many items. Two things that I always have would be a lighter and a knife, I can do a lot with just those. Water and/or a filter is a very close third and so is TP but I’ve definitely come home missing a sleeve off my shirt in the past…lol. Funny, I carried...
I probably have the same Brifit electric scale and I notice the same thing. It will jump .3 grains out of nowhere but other than that it is reasonably accurate. I’ve also just lost my trust in it and if I have to double check on my balance scale every time it’s just slowing me down. I just use...
I did find the Ultimate Reloader review on the Lyman gen 6. Seems decent for the price. Not the most accurate at +- .05 grain(tested) but definitely useable. They advertise +-.1 grain but I’m not sure if that’s the reality? 3 different charge weights in a batch of ammo doesn’t really make me...
Beam scales are accurate and reliable, my largest complaint would be the speed. Takes me an hour to hour and a half to accurately weigh out and charge 50 cases by hand.
I left my bow in the case this year. 7 Rem Mag is coming out to play on the WY plains! 243 is tagging along as backup.
180gr Eld-M in the 7 mag, 105gr Hornady hpbt in the .243 with healthy charges of H1000 in both.
Anyone here using one? Thoughts? I’m getting tired of throwing charges manually and weighing on a balance beam. I have electric scales but I don’t find them trustworthy and they aren’t saving me any time.
I’ll take it! Only one slight problem, I have the money sitting in a foreign account that’s been frozen due to a misunderstanding. I will need about 10k to travel there in person and get everything sorted out. At that point…. I will gladly purchase this RL26 from you! Lol
Since you can see that the full length of the neck isn’t being sized, I would be really surprised if the shoulder was anywhere close to being “bumped”. I am not surprised that they chamber just fine as I have many firings on cases that have never had the shoulder set back.
I never got into the unicorn dust myself but if you did, I hope you stacked it deep! I did run through a pound of RL16 which I found to be fairly decent. I won’t be losing any sleep over the situation though….
Your 270 load sounds pretty stout…plenty to get the job done for sure! 7mag is still a step above though. Figure 140gr at 3250fps, 150gr at 3150fps and 160gr at 3050fps. Reloads vs reloads, I’m pushing 180gr at 3000fps in my 7 mag.
I’ve found 7828ssc to be pretty good. Not worth $50-$60/lb to me personally. Not sure I would pay that price for any IMR powder honestly. Hodgdon does because they can and fortunately for me, I don’t have to pay those prices.
Edit: Yes, H1000 was the one for me that made IMR7828 irrelevant...
