I Shot some water jugs to test the cast lead powder coated bullet from the Lee 255gr mold in my Rossi 92. My rifle shoots these bullets accurately at 1500fps, so it was definitely a +P load. I wasn’t sure if they would expand at 1500fps, and I was curious about the terminal impact of the...
I’ve been happily hunting hogs with Tula 154gr soft points for a couple of years, but recently it has been hard to find. As an alternate round, I tested out the TulAmmo 122gr hollow point rounds, in stock recently at Academy sports.

I shot a handloaded 180 gr Hornady XTP over Longshot out of my Keltec Sub2000 in 40 S&W. I was impressed with both the powder and the bullet! I was happy to see respectable velocity and performance out of the unloved 40 S&W, especially out of my inexpensive carbine!

I shot the 230 grain, Rainier hollow point from a 45 ACP, Glock 21 to test expansion and penetration. The bullet was travelling about 950 fps before it hit the four one gallon jugs of water.

The inexpensive plated bullets worked perfectly; it retained all...
I shot Nosler's sporting handgun bullet into four 1 gallon water jugs to test the bullet's expansion and penetraition. The 250 gr, .451" bullet was loaded over Winchester 296, at the mid point of Hodgdon's 45 Ruger only loading data, and it was shot out of my 16" Rossi 1892 carbine. The last...
I loaded up some 210gr Hornady XTP bullets for my 6.5 inch Ruger Blackhawk in 41 Magnum. Check out the performance and expansion in the water jugs: https://youtu.be/mWhC5VIQ5S4
I shot my preferred 7.62x39 hunting load, the Hornady 123 gr SST, I to the water jugs.

These Hornady SST bullets provide dramatic expansion, and while they tend to fragment in the feral hogs, shedding more than half their weight, they often exit. Whatever the...
A 300 gr cast, powdercoated bullet, like that on the left in the picture was used to kill the pig below. A hot loaded 45 Colt, with good shot placement anchored this pig!
Yes, I took two or three hogs (pic in link below) with the Tula 124 gr. Shot placement is key, so a small boar fell instantly with a neck shot at 30 yds. While a sow shot at 100 yards was hit back a bit too far, and it required 3 shots to go down. All shots fully penetrated, but I have seen much...
Hello Shooters,
I shot the Tula 124 gr soft points into water jugs to see if they expanded and penetrated suitably for hunting.
Here is a video of my first attempt: https://youtu.be/lc4OqsKZScI
Here is a video of my second attempt: https://youtu.be/nO7manC1Yso

Hi Everyone,
I did a jug test of a warm Ruger level load of the Hornady 250 gr XTP in 45 Colt. They held up better than I expected, but I haven't tried them on game yet.

I loaded some 300 gr Hornady XTPs in 45 Colt +P, and I shot them into gallon water jugs from my Rossi 92. These loads were going about 1590 fps over the chronograph.

I will try them out on a feral hog sometime soon!
