I have tried up to 40gr of H4350 with velocities of around 2750-2780. SD 31, ES 70+ with accuracy of 1.25-1-5" @100. I would like to get better consistency and accuracy. How about Varget or something faster burning?

I'm looking for a good hunting load for my daughters 10"twist 18" 243. Anyone tried a similar scenario? I have most common powders and all primers except Rem.
Any real world on game experience with this load would be greatly appreciated. Velocities and accuracy would be also.

I have a really tight chamber, and with some of the brass, I had marks on the case head. Not ejector marks imprinted, just shiny where the bolt turned on case head. Other than that, not bad. This is also twice fired brass that very possibly had some marks before this firing.
Shot both the CCIs and WLRMs today and the WLRMs did way better. 4 shots at 100 came in at
.550" ctc. It was still a little warm in mine, even at 62.5 gr. I'm going to back down some and play with seating depth.

I did forget to include bullet in op, I'm using the 180AB. The first shot yesterday over chrono was 3003 fps at 63 gr. with 210m primers. The second two didn't register. Had two touching and one out.

I've used BR-2s in the past with good results. I recently re-barreled my rifle with a Brux and have experimented with different primer-load combos with interesting findings. Some hotter with certain charges and not so with others, with no rhyme or reason that I could pinpoint. I'm taking lots of...
What primers have y'all had the best results with in this combination? I have all except the Russian stuff.
I'm looking for good velocity with low ES (aren't we all).
I just started this combo today with fairly decent results.
On an unrelated note, what would be the cause for two grouping...
Since my problem with Hybrid 100V, I've decided to go with a non-temp sensitive powder. I tried IMR 4451 today with so-so results. and wondered if any of you have tried it. The theory of a temperature stable powder that reduces copper fouling would be nice.
I'm using the 180gr AB .015" off...
I shot both chronos at the same time and were within 10-15fps of each other. The average was only just a few fps. The super fast one had obvious signs, not so much with the others. Needless to say that was the last shot.
Ok, my original post was pretty hastily written and I left out some details. ( trying to get off work) I didn't get any notifications on this so I thought it was a dead subject.
My original velocities at the time of work up averaged 2820 with sub 1/2 moa. Having thought I had found a good...
I checked a load that I made up at the end of last year (cool weather), and had high velocity and rather high pressure. They averaged 100fps faster and had one that went 140fps over.
It was 63gr Hybrid 100V behind a 180gr AB.
Have any of you had similar results?
Wow. Thank you DrMike. My granddad was a veterinarian, I should have payed better attention in his operating room. Excellent explanation and that also explains the exact same thing that happened 2 weeks ago with a big 8 point. Almost same shot, but different direction. Same results, top of heart...
That explains alot of it, but I've had heart shots bleed like crazy. I need some more meat, so another doe is on the menu and I'll try different shot placement.
I shot a #90 doe a couple of days ago with my .308 using 165gr ABs. The shot was behind left shoulder, slight quarter away, busted top of heart, exiting center shoulder right side. Range was 80 yrds, give or take a few. MV was +/- 2606. The thing that puzzles me is I only found one drop of blood...
Thanks, Scotty. I'm sure to get alot of pleasure out of it, and maybe some backstraps to boot. The ABs that I dug out of the dirt bank looked pretty sweet, considering the bank has ALOT of rocks in it.
I've kept working at this load just about all day, trying different powders and charges. I went back to Varget and started working up, looking for signs, until I reached 45.5gr and the bingo light came on. I had not adjusted my scope at all during this whole process and all of my groups were low...
