I think I have the same carbine as you. I got mine from Kittery Trading Post a few years ago.
Glad you got a load sorted out. I’m using H4895 and the 225 Sierra in mine. When those guns are good, they act like good bolt guns.
H4198 will work great with 200’s Dan. I used a lot of IMR with Hornady 200’s when I first got mine.
My favorite bullet is the 225 Sierra GK. For deer it opens very nicely and is accurate. My opinion but the PT was a bit too tough for deer but they work fine. If you’re just shooting deer the...
I’d agree with Phil. Drop a couple grains and work back to desired speed. I’m guessing you’ll likely end up in nearly the same spot give or take a grain.
I’ll start a cup and core at .010 off and anything bonded or mono get .050 right out of the gate. 99% of the time I know I’m going to get shorter for best accuracy.
I’ll cut whatever a customer wants Don. Mostly it’s a lot of White Pine, Hemlock, Black Locust.
I’ve sawn a fair amount of oak, hard and soft maple, butternut, black walnut, cherry and maybe some stuff I’m forgetting about.
I see it some around here as well Dan. I bought a sawmill back in July and it’s been fairly steady but not really busy. For me it’s been a bit of good luck since I have been trying to shape up the old mill yard and get stuff organized. I’m waiting on some building plans to put a roof over the...
For sure Joe. I always joke that he’s likely the last great governor of NY! He was my favorite president as far back as I remember. Neat fella for sure.
And a 170 grain bullet should be on your list as well ET. All of the powders mentioned work great, I use alot of the Leverevolution in my 30-30/35 Rem loads, but all of those will work great.
Give the barrel a good scrubbing if it hasn't had it, and maybe swap projectiles. Something will...
Whoooooaaaa Dan! We must’ve been on the elk run today! I had a nice day today so I decided to check my two chosen for this year at 400 as well.
The 300 is my bad weather gun.
Then my old Lenard Brownell 7 Rem.
I brought them home, wiped them down and put them in the case for a...
