Finally got my 300 Win Mag back, I sent it off to fix the feeding issues with the push feed, it was built for me about 5 years ago, had been single feeding it to develop loads until last year when I used it for a double nilgai hunt last year and noticed the feeding issues. It's a Remington 700...
That is good speed. How many grains were you using? I bet its north of 45 grains, if so, what brass did you use and any heavy powder crunch? If you had powder crunch, were you able to keep the seating depth consistent as if you were loading without powder crunch?
I'm impressed that you could fill 50 grains of ball powder and seat 220 grains on it, did it have a crush? I never liked a crush with over 45 grains using stick powders that seats deep in my 308 case, even with a drop tube. I don't crimp and neck tension is no more than 1 -2 thou. I keep the...
Earlier in the week my gunsmith notified me that my 6BR was ready, she had a new barrel spun on so I got my truck checked and all fluids topped off for the 12 hour round trip, my wife and I left at 3 am, ride was smooth and drinking coffee along the way. About 4 hours in, the truck started...
Nice, good to try some new primers. Give us a holler on how the new primers perform. I am reluctant to buy any primers right now, still have a stash and not shooting as much. Once I get my 300 WM and 6BR back from my gunsmiths, I may start shooting more again. Hopefully there are some of my go...
That is sad, I used to use RL15, 17, 19, 22, 25 for so long since I have started reloading, i like the RL26 for my 300 and with the outrageous prices and non availability I stopped looking at Alliant and look at other powders and Hodgdon is one of my favs, hopefully they don't follow the same...
Learning shooting techniques on that little .22, had some time out today, winds from 12-15 mph variable at 2 o clock. Switched from the Caldwell rest to the Atlas bipod this time and 5 shot groups at each target. Groups tend to open up a bit when wind acts up , but tends to shoot a ragged hole...
In addition to my above post, other calibers that I have such as the 6.5 Creed, 7 Mag and 308 can get the job done for small to medium deer sized game. I have used these rifles mostly for my hunting needs. Bullets I mostly used for these rifles are the Ballistic Tips, never failed me.
For deer to red stag sized game, I'll use my 6.5 x 284 with 143 ELD-X , if going for nilgai, its the 300 WM with 180 -200 grain Accubonds. 6.5 X 284 has never tasted blood and it shoots so darn good.
