I just pull the bullets and keep the bullets / brass / primers, and dump the powder in the yard as fertilizer. I will try to identify the brand of those factory primers before using them and use them as plinking or sight in rounds.
I used to keep old product boxes but they take space. I tossed all the old product boxes and put all the manuals, screws, accessories into one or two boxes. It helps make room.
I have checked the loaded neck diameter for some of the cartridges that I have in my arsenal, and compared it to the Nosler specs for clearance and some took me by surprise that two of my loaded rounds have .002" -.003" clearance, the Creed and the 6.5 x 284, I already fixed the issue with the...
That is a sweet rig Guy. I remembered a buddy who had the exact model, but with a short barrel smaller than yours. I shot those full power 240 grainers, and the recoil was snappy but it was very accurate. It was easy plinking cans at 25 yards. Looking at it makes me want to buy one.
Persuaded my wife to let me get a new toy, a new chronograph. She gave me the thumbs up. 😀 Should I get the Garmin Xero C1 or the Labradar? I was leaning on the Garmin. Anyone recommend a reliable dealer to get a Garmin? Any options you recommend to add with the Garmin, if any.
I turned two different brass, the Lapua was turned .0015" per side, and the Norma virgin brass afterwards which was turned .0005" per side to clean up necks.
The Lapua I shot today was in 1 grain increments which is a ladder to see if I won't get any more pressure. One shot each charge of 74...
I was getting some verticals that I did not like, and I changed the seating depth to another .010"
The 2nd pic is the unturned Norma 76.4 gr 3 shot group and the 3rd pic is the same 3 shot load but .0005" turned.
After fireforming, I may increase to 78 grains or a little more because I'm...
Just send me a roundtrip airfare and a 3 day guided hunt up there. ;)
Kidding aside, if we lived closer together, I would swing by and help ya out. Same goes with anyone on this forum if needing help.
Did a ladder in one grain increments for the neck turned Lapua brass
74 gr - 2874 fps
75 gr - 2931 fps
76 gr - 2970 fps
77 gr - 2996 fps
Book max is 78 gr and have not pushed hard, this is just a test to see if pressure and speed have came back down to normal compared to the tight necks on...
I could get a better assessment if you can give me the H20 water capacity, temp and OAL to be able to adjust the burn rate to your velocity / powder charge.
Cartridge : 7 mm Rem SA Ultra Mag
Bullet : .284, 162, Hornady ELD-X 2840
Useable Case Capaci: 62.700 grain H2O =...
Running another test at the range soon with the skimmed Lapua brass and Normas. Lapua necks was turned .0015" per side, and Norma is roughly .0005" to clean up necks. Hopefully I see an improvement in speed and pressure change with the Lapua brass. Seated another .010" deeper, I did not like...
It varies between brass brands, my 300 Win Mag Lapua brass has H20 capacity of 92.29 grains and Norma has 95.20 grains . The Norma holds more powder capacity than the Lapua. I'm not sure what other brands water capacity may be.
Have you checked H20 water capacity with the fired primer in...
Do you remeasure the loaded bullet diameter again and get a new bushing .002" under bullet diameter? What is your preference? Since you removed some material, possibly about .001" each side.
