    Neck Turning

How much do you remove to clean up? I cleaned up about .0005" off the Norma 300 , just some high spots. I may start cleaning up new brass once I buy them in the future. They do have some small variations.

    Neck Turning

I don't neck turn unless needed if the brass necks are not having enough clearance in the chamber. Neck turning .005-to under .001" to clean up necks is good too if you want to eliminate all the variables to get good accuracy and you may need to use a bushing die if you turn the necks. You will...

    Excessive headspace on virgin brass

I do remember that post. Checked and found the post. https://forum.nosler.com/threads/300-win-mag-brass.42951/#post-471952

    Excessive headspace on virgin brass

Checked headspace on virgin Norma brass for the 300 Win Mag and it shows 2.256" and the fired Norma is 2.273", that is .017" headspace. Geez Is there an advice to this,,,,possibly just .005" jam in with Ballistic Tips and use low to mid charges to blow out the front shoulder to 2.253" instead...

    Case head seperation problem

If you have a headspace gauge, if you can find a good factory fired case and check the headspace on it and check the headspace on the unfired factory round. I am curious on the headspace. If you dont have one, here is a good headspace tool. https://www.hornady.com/headspace-bushings#!/

Very nice bench and that is a great way to recycle wood to reuse.

    Case head seperation problem

I assume the brass is new since you mentioned " the first 100 ". May I ask what kind of die you used and which brass? I predict that its excessive headspace that caused those separations. Are you using powder charges within the minimum and maximum window for your rifle? Are the brass new...

Beating myself on the bench today

The die on the left is what I use to open the necks .001" under bullet diameter prior to seating to give me .001" neck tension, eliminates the use of buttons in full sizing dies. I don't like the idea of the buttons pulling on the necks to open it up on the downstroke, tends to pull it out of...

Beating myself on the bench today

To kill time, i just neck turned 25 pieces of virgin Norma brass I had left to clean it up a bit, it was not much, about .0005" to clear some high spots, it was so easy, no fits on the bench running the mandrel in those cases like I had with the Lapua. Will follow up later on the Normas that was...

Beating myself on the bench today

I googled the Sinclair expanders you use, and it looks real smooth where the case mouth slides over without a taper junction compared to my K&M expander. I like those Sinclairs.

Beating myself on the bench today

Now it bugs me because you said that. 😀 I'll do that hopefully this weekend, swamped with work for the next several days. Will keep you guys posted.

Beating myself on the bench today

I deprimed 50 cases of Lapua brass for the 300 Win Mag to prep it for neck turning. Brass necks is too thick and causing high pressure. Cleaned the body and inside necks then set up the BenchSource to anneal it, just the glow method is sufficient enough since it works for me, threw away the...

    Federal Premium 180-grain Nosler Partition

Accubonds do very well too, especially the 200 grain. I would not recommend the ELD-X, its too frangible. As Dr. Mike mentioned, I'm curious on the caliber as well.

    250gr XTP recovery

Excellent expansion, I used to use the 210 XTP in my .41 Magnum Classic Hunter before I sold it. Those XTP hollow points are wicked, never came apart and I have shot them into huge hogs as close as 25 yards, one was facing me and the bullet entered the left neck / shoulder junction, and...

    Accuracy Diff with primers.

On a couple off loads I have made in the past for the 308 and 6.5 Creed, switching primers from CCI 200 to BR2 primers has tightened groups.

    The Mark 7 in Action

Wow, I misunderstood that you were not doing the project, but impressed that you hit 20,000 cases, what caliber is it? How accurate is the powder dispenser? I would be very surprised if it measures close to a kernel. Overall its sweet for loading a large batch. How long does it take to load...

    300 Win Mag / H1000 / 200 Accubonds test ( Part 2 )

Thanks to some of the guys on here who helped narrow down the search to find the issue with the 200 Accubonds, Thank you @jimbires and @IdahoCTD.

    300 Win Mag / H1000 / 200 Accubonds test

It's a 26 inch Bartlein, no the load was not accurate, it was about 1.25 - 1.5 inch groups and the ES was so bad. I knew the rifle could do much better. I agree that the speed was off the charts, the same thing happened last year during a test with the 200 ELD-X before I bagged two cow nilgai...
