The 270 WSM is a great round. I own the Winchester M70 Extreme Sporter. Its basically the same model as the Extreme Weather but the barrel and action is mat black. It was a special run for Sportsmans Warehouse, they aren't on Winchesters site.
Its a GREAT rifle. The Winchester M70s that are now...
Ive generally been in the heavy for caliber camp, especially for long distance but Ive been thinking of trying out some light for caliber bullets for my 270 for picking off coyotes under 300 yards.
We all know that super high speed impacts cause some pretty devastating results.
Have any of you...
Thats odd. I wonder if I got some flukes? My loads were at the upper end but nothing too hot with any pressure signs. I guess the loose primer pockets could be a sign, but the primers looked pretty good with just slightly flattened but not too bad. Im going to buy some Nosler brass and see what...
That was a very good write up and very usable info. thanks for writing down your test results as Im interested in loading both the 178 ELD-X and the 77gr TMK.
Ill be testing loads in a CZ 550 Varmint rifle with 25.5" barrel and the 77gr TMK out of a M16A2 replica rifle with a 20" 1-7 twist FN...
I obviously haven't looked lately as now I see it everywhere. I just remember looking for it for several years in a row and it being out of stock everywhere
wow that looks great and the accuracy is just a nice. Thats definitely a load that I would load up a thousand or so of.
I don't think you can ask for anything better for the 223 to shoot a bonded bullet that accurately
The 75 bthp from Hornady is definitely one of the best bullets made for the AR15. But Ive always said, my opinion, that the best all around bullet for the 223/5.56 is the 65gr SGK.
The 75BTHP has best accuracy and down range BC and will fragment a few inches in causing fast kills. BUT the...
I bought a few boxes of factory Nosler loads in 308 and have reloaded the cases only to find out that after the first load (second firing) the primer pockets are all loose. You can press them in by hand and shake the brass for them to fall out.
Has anyone had this problem with Nosler brass? It...
The Sierra pro hunters always get overlooked as do the speer hot cores, They are both stout game bullets and you can pull some fantastic accuracy with them. I usually always get better accuracy out of basic cup core flat based bullets like the pro hunters. They are great for your typical hunting...
If I could afford it I would. 270wsm Norma is super expensive. Is the huge cost difference justifiable?
If I could get around 10 loads with Norma then Id say its worth it...Nosler is made by Norma correct?
As far as I know Lapua doesn't make WSM brass, but I could be wrong
The 30-06 is like the 308. You could literally try 1000 different loads and 95% of them will work good.
Just get a powder in the 4064 burn range and play. If you want to shoot some heavy big boys like the 208 Amax go with something a little slower burning. RL17 is a another great all around...
Ive heard that Federal brass doesn't last as many loads as others, but I haven't had any problems so far (but Im only on my 3rd load of 5.56 with Federal)
Im asking about magnum loads. Im having a hard time finding 270WSM brass for any decent price but can get a bunch of new Federal in 270 win...
thanks for the reply. Headspace gauge to get longer brass life makes sense and is a good enough reason for me. I have noticed that after full length sizing I do have to trim quite a bit in most cases from them stretching. Ill get one and bump back to .004 and maybe try some at .002-.003 and see...
