My money on the Marlin. I bought a XL-7 in .270 3 years ago and it's the most accurate production rifle I have ever owned.

They will work but shot placement needs to be perfect. Hard to do on a running buck. I'm not a good tracker so bigger is better for me. 30/06 or 7mm mag for me.

I can't believe I said No.1-A. This Ruger No.1 .264 win mag. has a 26 inch barrel with no sights making it a No.1-B I think.
