Thanks for the replies. All the brass is factory Federal brass. Haven't been able to secure any new brass from Federal so use factory brass, shoot it and then use the brass to reload.
Question for everyone: Federal nickel brass and Fed 210M primers. Found a great load for 270WSM with Federal nickel brass and Fed 210M primers. Here is the problem/question: what would case the primers to just fall out. It has happened about 4 times out of 50 handloads. They seem to seat...
ShadeTree,
Thanks for your reply. I have RE17,19 and 22 but can't find any 16 or 26. Any idea where a person can find some? I talked with a rep from Scheels and he said most of the Alliant powder is going to the military instead of consumers.
Here are 2 pics of the powder inside the Nosler Factory 180G Accubond. I gave it the eye test compared to some of the powders that i had: It was closet of RE 22. H 4831SC was a little larger. Also looked at RE19, IMR4831, Magpro, IMR 4350.
My Browning shoots the Factory Nosler Trophy Grade 180G Accubond in 300WSM very good. I would like to try and duplicate what they are doing at the factory. I pulled one today, it was very compressed, and weighed in and it was 62.4grains. My question is: anybody venture to guess what powder...
A couple of you tubers had really good results in a Model 70 with Magpro. I've had really good luck with Magpro in both 140 and 150 G Accubonds so I think I might start there.
I searched but couldn't find any data. Could someone run a quickload for 165 ABLR in 270 WSM with Magpro and H4831SC? Just got some in and wanted to see if my ABolt will stabilize them. I'm open to other powders also-I finally have a pretty good selection.
TIA.
I talked with the Tech at Leupold today. He told me just to use the velocity from MN for my custom dial. Basically, for most hunting ranges he said it won't matter so I ordered my custom dial today. Thanks for the replies.
I want to have my Leupold Custom Dial Done and the Tech at Leupold advised me to send me the information where I will be doing most of my hunting (Montana) instead of where I did my testing (Minnesota). I'm having a brain fart trying to figure this out. If my 270WSM 150g Accubond is going...
Range update: I think I've settled on a load for the 270WSM with 150g Accubonds. I kept my seating depth the same and just tried: Nosler, Win and Federal Brass along with WLRM, 9.5M and Fed 210M primers. On 2 different range sessions I got my best 2 groups with Federal nickel cases with Fed...
Hit the jackpot today. Went with a buddy to pick up his gun from gunsmith and they had Winchester Large Rifle primers for $69/brick. I bought 2. To top it off, they had Nosler Accubonds in 30 caliber 180G for $49/box. I thought that was pretty fair in today's high prices.
Follow up from range day. I tried Federal nickel cases today with both Fed 210M and Rem 9.5M primers. All the bullets were seated the same and fine tuned powder charge in 0.3 increments from last range day. I guess I was pleasantly surprised but a few questions came up. My best group came in...
Thanks for the helpful replies. On my load development, they were all seated the same length so next time I will use the same brass and just try different primers. I will report back with my results but it won't be for a couple weeks. I appreciate all knowledgeable guys on this forum.
Gerry,
I know so people don't like Magpro but my 270WSM really likes it and I guess that's all that matters. Try some in the 6.8 Western, I think you will like it.
