The only metric case rifle I have is a 6.5x68 Imp. Its the same as a 6.5-300 win mag so it was a bit of a waste to build. I already had 2 6.5-300wm's prior to building it.

If you take some off the top of the shell holder the die will size down further. Another thing you might do is paint the case with a Sharpie and try to chamber it to see where the case rubs. Also measure the base of the case before and after sizing. If its the same the die is the problem.

Bigger is almost always better if the bullets perform. I shot 15+ elk with a 358STA, 375-358STA, and 416 Rem mag. Big Berger's and ELD-M's make up for the bullet diameter.

With elk I only hunt with 30's using Bergers. I have shot them with 6.5's and the reaction to the impact is near non-existent with heart/lung shots. ELD-M's are lightyears better for game reactions. The 7's are better than the 6.5's but they are not .30's.

The 300wm is about 94grs of capacity, 300prc is about 97grs, the 28 Nosler is 103, and I think the 7prc is is about 84. I would bet a +P throat on a 7prc has about the same barrel life as a 7-300wm or 7-300prc because your cutting out half of the rifling height for a half inch or so. A 26"...

7-300prc? Its between the 2 in capacity. My buddies shoots 195's 3000fps in a 26" barrel. 28's tend to be pretty hard on barrels. I'd bet you'd be close to 3000fps with 180's in a 22".
