My rifles in 7mm RM and 303 British were used by other hunters but I don't recall ever shooting anything myself with them.
I appreciate your input and your good natured demeanor as well. I've seen on that other forum how pig headed they can be on things I know they are wrong so don't trust them necessary on something I don't have as much experience on like scopes for longer range shooting.
I've watched the Barbour...
You have lots of experience so what would be your choices for durable scopes that work as they should and hold zero? On the Rokslide forum they pretty much claim that SWFA, Nightforce and Trijicon are the only ones worth looking at and the rest are junk. There might be a few others they seem to...
It was right there and needed to be bought you know.........
I could apologize to your lady but I'm not sorry lol. I sure hope she takes possession of it for herself. Would make a dandy deer gun for her!
Welcome from me as well. You have gotten some excellent advise from the guys. Any good bullet from a 280 Rem will work well for moose. I've taken a bunch over the years with a number of cartridges but not the 280 yet. I have two friends who use the 280 and they used 150 -175 gr bullets for...
308 Norma Magnum for me. Still the best designed belted 30 cal magnum in my opinion. Shot my first caribou and mountain goat with it. Took a bunch of moose and bear too.
270 Weatherby would be next, never shot one but always have been intrigued by it. A 160 gr Partition at 3100 fps would be...
We should add the non metrics too, good idea. I'm a big fan of the 308 Norma magnum and also had a stint with the 358 Norma too. Both are excellent for sure.
Not sure if you were planning this one too @Blkram but here we go!
Definitely the 6.5x55. It was my first 6.5 mm round and we still have one. It's capable of a bit more speed than the 6.5 Creed or my other favorite 6.5 the 260 Rem and fantastic accuracy.
I shot my only wolf with a 156 gr...
Probably 35 Whelen for me with the 270 Win in a fast twist barrel close behind. They are all good rounds though.
