    Lyman Great Plains .54

I intend to get a peep sight eventually but there are none to be found. Waited eight weeks on a backorder from Optics Planet only to be told it could be another 8-10 weeks so I canceled. No more than I have shot a muzzleloader I probably shouldn’t be shooting 50-75 yards anyways, at least...

    Lyman Great Plains .54

As cool as that is, I simply don’t have time to play around with it right now, am too busy with other projects. Although if I draw my Whitetail Muzzleloader tag this year and don’t find any caps by the end of the summer I may have to give this a try! Or get a smith to do a temporary flintlock...

    Lyman Great Plains .54

The roundball weighs 230 grains. I have no doubt it will take an elk if I do my part!

    Lyman Great Plains .54

Well even though I had about decided on a Knight Bighorn or a Rem 700ML, I came home from the gunshow with an unfired Lyman Great Plains .54! It had the patched round ball twist (1-60”) but thats no bother. Now if I could just find some #11 caps!

The meat I fried was super tough. The meat we slow cooked in the crockpot was excellent!

My Oregon public land Aoudad. One shot from 150 yards with my .30-06 and the 165 grain Accubond did the trick!

    looking to upgrade my muzzleloader

I’m also in the market for something like this. Have heard great things about Knight Bighorn inlines. I’m not looking to spend $800-1000 on a muzzleloader though.

My friend is having a custom 7mm SAUM put together. Its going to be built on a Remington 700 with a Benchmark 24” barrel. He’s wanting to shoot 180 grain Berger VLD Hunters and N568 powder with Large Rifle Magnum primers. Thanks in advance.

    .30-06 180 grain Accubond with H4831

Got a chance to try these last weekend. The 180 AB with 60 grs of H4831 averaged 2735 fps in my 24” Douglas barrel. Accuracy was right around 1” for 3 shots. Good to know.

    30/06 win 760 with 165 gr Scirocco

W760 and H414 are basically ball powder versions of IMR4350. I believe the 54 grain charge is what comes standard in most factory loads incorporating 165 grain SP bullets. I’ve used IMR 4350 for most of my .30-06 handloads over the years and have always had more than acceptable results.

Midway has Nosler overruns and seconds available

That’s more than the first runs were costing a few years ago. I expected a price bump but that is just unreal.

    .220 Swift

Appreciate the compliments 6Rem, and although for a straight up hunting scope, I love that Leupold VX3 or 3i 3.5-10x40mm it seems to be a bit on the small side for this Swift. I've been looking and looking for something Leupold with a bit higher magnification but cannot seem to find anything in...

    Length of pull

Thanks for all of the advice fellas! I have been on a "length of pull" kick ever since my smith measured my LOP with his gauge. According to his measurement even my best fitting rifle, my Model 70, is a bit long as it measures 13 15/16'' but it fits me better than any other that I own. That...
