Just google “ three ways to find the lands”
The problem with the Hornady tool is that it’s a generic shell case not one that actually works in you rifle.
Option is to get one of your fired brass tapped… I don’t have that option.
Now they used red locktight but blue works too just have to be...
Here’s the info off the blue locktite bullet
You can see I am way off the lands
Locktite ogive is 2.2775 and neck was .276
Mine that worked was 2.229 and neck was .272
And even the case length is fine
😩😩
Gotter out
I took a fired Starline case. I then took a partition ( same ones I am using- 100 grain Nosler).
I made sure the bullet would slide easily.
I then put a drop or two of blue locktite in the neck
Slid the bullet in LONG
Slid it in the chamber carefully.
I levered the shell in...
Well that was short lived.
*+*^^***^*%^%#^^
Still getting some where the brass goes in fine but when I seat the bullet at the same setting ( everything) some don’t work
All cut to the same length WT^*%%%%#
Ok I got one case to fit.
I had to rotate 3/8 turn.
So do I put the neck sizer back in and do that one again and then try a few more.
I have a turret press so I think I have to do the brass first, back the die out so it can go all the way up to do the rest of the stations ( powder and seating...
Is this the tool that you use to check the bump?
Called a headspace comparator for 243
I only had 10 ( on the left) that chambered ok out of this batch
So I will take one of the ones that don’t and move it down 1/8 of a turn to see where it goes ( is that bumping the shoulder then?
Thanks Jer
Sorry I just used to clean my 45-70 brass in my steel pin tumbler
Let them dry
Size them, trim if needed and then run them through my Dillon 550B
After powder measure is set and my bullet seater and crimping die we’re set I could do 100 rounds in about an hour.
I can’t even get two that work...
Ok I have tried new brass and they don’t chamber consistently.
I can’t take the die apart. Not sure if that’s just because it’s RCBS or if it’s stuck and I didn’t want to wreck it.
Shoulder bump.
I am trying to get my head around this.
Can you explain it please
Starline Brass out of the bag: ANSWERED
I get one out of approximately every 6 or 7 of them that will allow me to chamber them?????
Did I get a bad batch?
But even after I resize and prime they don't load either ( just cases)
RESISING DIE RCBS SETTING:
