So here’s tonight test. I am not a great rifle shooter ok. I am primarily a recurve hunter so keep that in mind.
I shot 42 and 42.5 in IMR 4350 and H4350
I had on loaded at 41.5 in the bottom right target.
Just let me know what you think.
Thanks Jer
Thanks I have loaded 3each of IMR and H4350 @ 42
Then 3 @ 42.5 of each
I just happened to do one at 41.5 in IMR
So we’ll see how they group
Gotta wait for the wind to calm down
Southern Alberta is a windy place😳
Thanks Jer
Thanks for your reply. I bought to have a rifle in between my 22 and 45-70
As Fred Bear once said…. You want to learn to hunt get a bow….. you wanna eat get a gun.
So I gotta a recurve and went hungry a few times 😩
So I decided to get a few plinkers… been eating game ever since… some with both😁
So here are my results of my factory loads
100 grn federal power shok good
90 grn Hornady precision hunter not so good
80 grn Winchester super X better than100 grn but could have been me
So I am thinking it doesn’t like the 90 grainers so much
So what was your loads then?
Sorry would like to see if I can make this powder work… I have H and IMR 4350 for now
Powder isn’t ez to get here in KANADA 😩
I am not stuck on any brand or weight from 85-100… just want something that groups well.
I don’t shoot much past 100 yards here anyway but last night they weren’t grouping good at 200
Maybe it’s just me
So this is what I bought to try. Thought I would be able to get a sense of what it liked.
I have shot the
100 federal sand they group nice
95 grain Winchester xp… not so good
80 grain Winchester no so great
Going to take out the 100 and 90 and 80 and shoot 3 each at 100 yards now and take pics...
I did my research and I wanted the partitions but couldn’t find them.
I just found some 100 grainers but was told my 1-10 twist wouldn’t stabilize them.
Man I am loving my recurve bow and my 45-70 more and more now that I have tried to get this thing to shoot something well.
I will persevere...
