I shoot them in mine. They shoot very well. They are more finicky than any other butler I have ever tried in that rifle, but I was able to get them to shoot,
I had ok luck with RL-22, good luck with 7828ssc, and ended up settling with H4831. Getting right around 3050. I was never able to get...
I'm pretty sure that these will result in a super light build in 6.5 SAUM! Should be able to push them in the 3100-3200 range out of my 26" heavy 6.5/7SAUM.
If the BC holds up, this will spank my 280 AI with a 150gr or 168 gr ABLR!
My brother smoked a cow elk with a 168 ABLR out of his 284 Win. Worked well. Not much reaction to the first shot (Double lung shot @ 350 yards) she wheeled around and he put another in her as she was running off. The second was a bit far back. He is pushing the @ 2820 fps. We recovered one of...
I have had great luck with it in my 280 AI, 6.5 SAUM, 243 when I had it, 270 Weatherby, and in my 338 RUM.
My favorite thing about 7828 is that I seem to always be able to find it.
Nice Photo Guy.
Being that he is sitting on top of a ridge, and I'm assuming that I would have to pack him back towards the camera, I'm breaking both shoulders, and dumping him right there. More than likely it would be with a 225 AB out of my 338 RUM, or a 200 ET out of my 338 WM. If the...
Nice work buddy! I had pretty decent luck with RL-17 and the 225 AB in my 338 WM. I was getting right in the 2890 range. That rifle of your is one heck of a rifle for sure. Seems to shoot about everything well. Hope you get a chance to introduce it to an Oregon elk this fall.
After a long winter of messing with all my rifles and getting everything dialed in, the great state of Oregon thought it would be funny to give me my second choice elk tag.... a muzzle loader, cow only hunt :x
I'm really hoping to get the opportunity to tag along on a few damage elk hunts...
Rl17 shot well in mine with the 225AB. Dang near 2900 shot lights out twice then fell apart but I think that that particular rifle needs cleaned more often than all my others as my Hunter load with the 200ET did the same thing.
I use Hunter in my 338wm. Pushing the 200ET @ 3010 and .5-.75moa. Haven't played with it much above 55° though so I can't comment on the temp sensitivity. I can't seem to find any Ramshot powder localy any more so I might make the switch to RL17 when I run out.
You might want to think about Mag Pro, I have had great luck with Mag Pro both in terms of velocity and accuracy. 7828ssc, RL-22, RL-17, and H4831sc have all shot groups under .5 MOA in my rifle with bullets from 120 BT to 160 AB
I'm running a 26" Benchmark tube on it. I can get two out of the three in or dang near in the same hole with a pile of loads, but it seem to through one out a lot. I plan on having it worked out by this fall for sure. I want some big game blood on it this year. It's a bit over kill for yotes and...
Having been to Africa and laid eyes on an Eland, A 150 Bt would not have been in my top five choices. Those things are huge! With that said, I ran the 140 BT in my 280 AI for a while, and had no trouble taking elk with it. I guess it just confirms that it's all about shot placement. I still...
I need to stock up on some as well. My 375Ruger loves them. Getting .25" groups with H100V doing 2730 fps. I know I'm 100 fps under my Ramshot Big Game load, but it sure shoots a lot better, and if a lot more fun to shoot!
I have smashed two elk and a nice buck with them, they are one...
