Talked to Paul (Gunsmith) yesterday and my barrel finally came in. Said he would get it spun up shortly and the new trigger installed and assembled . Picked up a bunch of 165gr seconds from Nosler recently . Will have to get to the reloading bench soon to work up some loads.
I have hunted them in GA and AZ. Used my 11-87 12 gauge with an improved cylinder and whatever shells were left over from dove season. I always liked the ones that flew from between your feet the best. Always a fun bird to hunt.
Luckily I never developed a load with Alliant powders. Got some RL22 once years ago and never worked up a load for my 257 Weatherby with it. Used it to get a few scopes on paper for n different guns. Mainly use Hodgdon powders in all my guns.

Just ordered a couple hundred 165gr BT’s and Solid Base seconds to try in a rifle I am currently having rebarreled to 308. Will try and find a good load with some fresh Varget I recently picked up.

I too like the 6.5x55 and the 7x57. Both have preformed well for me with 139gr bullets and if we are talking European the 275 Rigby just sounds cool. I got one in a 77 RSI because the guy said it was to pretty to shoot so I got it and promptly shot it.
The Ruger was offered up with that little pencil barrel and just didn’t look right. I eyed it for a while just couldn’t get past the looks, if it had been a 1B I would have got it. Thought about having JES rebore my 77 RSI in 308 to 338 Federal.
I too own several 308 Babies. I wanted a 7-08 for a long time. Purchased some dies on a great deal a few years before I got the rifle. Ended up with a #1 A IN 7-08. Not my favorite model but that thing is a death ray on deer. I hunt with several rifles during season but that is usually the rifle...
