I hunted with a T/C Encore in 2009. However mine had a Bergara Barrel on it. It was a Stainless-Steel .30-06. I did have to reduce my normal .30-06 load (150gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip loaded with H-4350) by one grain of powder in the Encore. Muzzle velocity out of the 24" Bergara Barrel was 3043...
Thanks guys. Actually I asked a local Bowhunter and he says a friend of his has a Double Bull T5 that has only been used a time or two I may be able to buy reasonable.
Thanks Rod. The wife liked the part about heating it with a portable propane heater.

The wife and I have been talking about getting a pop up ground blind before Deer Season next year. There are several places we hunt that we could set up a ground blind by a Rock Pile, Bale Pile etc.
I have been talking to a few locals that I know use them and am getting mixed answers to my...
I ended up picking up a used Burris 2x7x32mm LER Handgun Scope off of another site. I am thinking i am also going to buy the 4x28mm Leupold EER Handgun Scope that was offered to me also. Heck I will find something to use it on even if I have to buy a new Handgun.

As some of you may or may not know I just recently acquired a Stainless-Steel T/C Contender (per G2) Frame with 4 Stainless-Steel Super 14 Barrels. The Barrels are:
.22 LR Match
.223 Remington
7-30 Waters
.45 Colt / .410 Vent Rib
I have two 3x12x Burris LER Handgun Scopes, one for the .22 LR...
Thanks guys. I hope to hang on to it this time. Yes I was very fortunate to get this one back and as a bonus to get the other barrels I have acquired in the process.
I started hunting with Contender Handguns in 1982, and have had my share since then. No one ever said hunting with these single...
A few years back I did a dumb thing, I decided to get rid of all of my Contenders and jumped into AR's with both feet. Well it didn't take long to realize that that was a situation I had to rectify.
When I sold all of my Contenders one of which went to a good friend of mine. This particular...
Last spring I bought a new Remington Model 700 SPS in .308. I bought this SPS with the intent on shortening the barrel to make a 20" SPS, so before I ever fired it I had the barrel cut and recrowned to 20". This barrel has to be the worst barrel I have ever had. It would copper foul so horriblly...
Very nice Smith Pop. Back about 20 years ago I picked up a used 4" 629 that had issues. When firing certain factory loads the cylinder would unlock upon firing and rotate backwards so the next time I went to fire it I had a fired case under the firing pin.
A quick phone call to Smith and they...
Heck I was trying to figure out what those tall things are sticking out of the ground. All of a sudden it dawned on me they are trees. That's why I didn't recognize them, we don't have many of those in South Dakota.
Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any Deer in those photos. I hope you get to...
Congrats on a nice buck. Yep it's a keeper so don't throw it back.
I have shot a lot of deer with a .30-06 since 1978 and never have shot a 180gr. Bullet, 150's and 165's don't bounce off deer either.

A few years back I tried a load using 95gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips with H-4350 that was recommended to me by a person on this site. I am hear to tell you that combination was super accurate in my Ruger .243. I only wish that Ruger would have shot varmint weight bullets that well as I might still...
Very nice indeed. I really hate it when a person has to add onto the house to make room for all the deer mounts, but a guy has got to do what a guy has to do.

Looks like you guys did OK. I have talked to some hunters over in Minnesota that only managed 1 or 2 deer for a party of 7 hunters.
Congrats on a successful year.
Larry
Thanks guys. That is the down side of South Dakota's later season, the weather usually starts torning for the worse. Plus being up here in the extreme corner of the state next to North Dakota and Minnesota all these deer know season is open by the time we start hunting. However this guy had...
Congrats on getting your deer and more importantly for doing the right thing. Actually you did a couple of right things, ending a bucks suffering and helping out someone in need with the meat. My hat is off to you, you done good.
