2 guys in my group have them and they have being dropping elk with the 210 Part with no problem. My last trip, the one shot a bull and cow at 375 and 350 yards respectively in which both only went a few paces from where they were shot. His brother shot his last year at about 25 yards. Works in...
Had that happen also. Shot a bunch, never had one. Then in Colorado on a muley, click. then watched him go over a berm, into the brush. When I got home, a friend who I did reloads for stated he also had some at the range. I was embarrassed. Traced it to some high primers in a batch of brass...
Doc, good luck with the hunts and the choices. If you listen real good you may hear something from your safe. It may sound like the Whelen saying pick me, pick me.
I have been working with the 190's in a Win mag. I have a 1-10 and its giving me a workout. It seems to be OL sensitive. I am also having a problem getting loads to repeat. A work in progress.
I know several people who shot the Fusion Ammo and stated the darn stuff shot pretty good. One of the guys took it to Colorado 2 years ago for his 3006. He also has been using it for deer with good results.
I took my first Elk and Muley with an 30-06 as most of the guys I had been hunting with did. Most of us were using the 180 Partitions. My load with them was the same as yours, 61 grs R-22. I did not have to seat them way out and was around 3.340 OL in which they shot very well. That was in a...
It's good to see you giving the Whelen some love. It was probably getting a little jealous with you spending some time with the Newton. I'm running the 250's at around 2500 and have not tried to go any further due to them shooting well at that point. Awesome.
OU812, thanks. At this point I think the Rhinos are what I'll go to. One of the guys picked one up last year and has been happy with it. From past experience, if you have a couple of guys hunting the mountain with you, the position indicator and text features would be helpful to keep each other...
I have a Garmin 60 series which works well, but want to upgrade. Looks like they are up to 64 series out now with some better features. I was looking at the new Rhino's but would like to know the radio range on them in the mountains. 2 years ago we had a situation where the radio's or buddy...
In a Remington and in a Weatherby S2, 57.5 IMR 4350 shot under an inch with 165/168’s. I have not worked with H4350 yet. As others stated, I would do a test of seating them in, working back with H4350 before I gave up.
I tried R19 and R22. R19 worked better with the 168 Barnes.
In the...
Maybe try seating them in a bit and see what happens. In my old Remington, I ran Nosler 165/180’s both at 3.310 OL and they shot. Now with the Weatherby S2, I’m at 3.315 OL with the 168 BT’s shooting under an inch. The partitions usually shoot pretty well in most rifles.
That's good to see. They are what I'm going to run in Oct in Colorado, just a bit slower. Hopefully this year we will get a chance. Scotty, if your going west this year, is the newton going for the ride or you going to stick to your 338?
Thanks guys. IMO the #3 is about perfect, stiff enough while keeping the weight good for carrying and shooting.
I liked it so much, I went with the same when I did the 260.
