I started out with an xp100 around 1981 or so, IMR 4198 and hornady 50 gr sx's I believe worked just fine ...... Then I found out about 40 gr bt's and reloaded #7 .Wow. Then Remington brought out the factory 700 , I put on a weaver 4x16 and WOW ! Ground squirrels hate me , they really, really...
Another thing you can try that was suggested to me a few years ago here that worked great is a foaming bore cleaner from outters or a silver and blue can of the same product( I cant remember the brand off hand). It took my 25 06 from 3 in to three shots touching
IMR 4350 & 150 used to be my go to in the 7mag and works well on blacktails and hogs if you keep the bullets in the ribcage. Hitting bones ruin a lot of meat. I switched to 160 partitions after shooting a couple of critters at close range  messy
Lil gun is all I use in the hornet also tjen, 40gr btips and a 40 gr hp barns used to make shot great out to 175 yds with an encore pistol with a 14" Bbl  n Now Im working with a 34 gr hp from midway that shows a lot of promise
thanks for the reply Greg, I wasnt sure if I should get excited or not .Ive hunted hunter ligget before so I know my way around it some thats why I put in for the tag there
i got drawn as an alternate for an elk tag at fort hunter ligget and my question is does anybody know of an alternate that actually ended up with a tag for anything?
