So, I'd appreciate a few other perspectives. I'm in the process of working up a load for my new hunting rifle (Tikka T3x lite in 7mm-08). I've been working with the 140 grain E-tip and found a promising load that I'd like to play with more. The load is:
140 E-tip, 41.5 grains varget @2.775"...
Barnes doesn't seem to have any data for H 4350 and the 7mm-08. I'm looking to try the following load:
7mm-08
2.775"
139 grain Barnes LRX
H 4350
22" barrel
If you were willing to run that for me, on Quick Loads, I'd be very grateful!
If you wouldn't mind: I'm trying to figure out which powder I'm going to use to play with the 139 Barnes LRX in 7mm-08. (I only have 12 bullets which I got for free). Any chance you could run one of those lists of various powders?
7mm-08, 139 Barnes LRX, 2.775"
Thank you!
I've always gotten those groups, at times, when testing a load, where you get two rounds right next to each other, then another one 2 inches away. Since getting a chronograph, I've noticed that sometimes when this happens, the errant shot had a much different velocity than the others...
Ok Dr. Mike, are you willing to run another for me? Once again my favorite powder has been left off the published data:
7mm-08
(Federal brass)
140 Nosler E-Tip
H 4895
2.8"
22" barrel
Thank you!!
I'm wondering if anyone has used Quickloads for the Nosler E Tip bullet? Did the results seem to match your experience? Just wondering since it sounds like that bullet can generate higher pressures at lower powder charges, than most others.
Also, a general question about Quick Loads...
I'm curious about your experience switching out ballistic tips and accubonds (keeping a load exactly the same, but switching (same grain) bullets). Have you found them to generally be equally accurate? Shoot to the same POI? Same velocity? Thanks!
I'm curious how many of you use a "lead sled" or other similar device when load testing? Or, do you just use bags? I use two bags, and I'm not an awful shot, but I'm also not good enough to think that my results are entirely due to the rifle... By now, I've probably missed a good load, or two...
Hello,
I'd be grateful if someone were willing to run this load for me. The Speer data doesn't cover H 4895. Thank you!!
7mm-08
H 4895
145 grain Speer Hot Cor
2.75"
22" barrel
A question (or two) for all you highly experienced reloaders: I've heard many people talk about velocity as a sign of pressure issues, usually saying that velocities much higher than published for a given charge, are themselves, a pressure sign, even if there's no sign of flattened primers...
I've been reading a bunch about OAL and would like to bounce what I think I've learned, off all you very experienced handloaders. My understanding is:
For the same powder charge, increasing OAL will reduce pressure and velocity (unless you touch the lands, in which case you could cause a...
Well, my quest to find the perfect load for the 140 accubond in my 7mm-08 continues. Having gotten no success with Big Game, or RL 17, I'm going to try Varget and H 4895. The Varget data is listed, but if someone were willing to run a QL for me on the H 4895, I'd really appreciate it.
7mm-08...
I'm pretty new to the chronograph. Having one has been fascinating so far, but I also get the sense that little things can have big effects on the readings. I've had the same load give me a 3 shot spread of only 12 or 15 fps, then do the same thing a few days later, but with an average...
I'd love some opinions on a rifle of mine. It's a Remington 7600 that I use for hunting thick woods in bad conditions. I use a peep sight, rather than a scope. Since getting into reloading, I've tried a few different loads and every time I do, something seems a bit wonky. Accuracy is not...
Hi,
Just wanted to briefly introduce myself. My name is Doug and I am a relatively new reloader (I've been at it for just over a year now). I don't have any friends who reload, so I've learned from books and bits of help I get from users on other sites. I've heard this one is an excellent...
