    Sizing belted magnum cases ?????

My 7 STW is giving me fits. Bolt is hard to close on sized cases. I thought die had become mis-adjusted some how so I reset it like I always have. Ran press ram with shell holder all the way to top of stroke. Screwed die into press until die body touched shell holder. Gave it another 1/8 turn...

    2016 Mo rifle buck

Having lost our lease in Mo at the end of the 2014 season we had to find another one. Ended up on a new property that's about 15 miles SE of original lease. Most of it is cultivated ground, corn and soybeans with a few patches of timber and a small creek bottom on the SW side. I set my bow...

    Scopes and glasses ?

Awright, here's the deal. I do not wear glasses for distance correction but I have to have reading glasses to see up close. Cheapos from the dollar store and 1.25 correction factor. Creedmore and I made a scope trade and I ended up with a 4-14x50 Leupy that has a B&C reticle in it. Last...

    2015 Season done

Rifle season in Oklahoma was short but sweet. The season opener was last Saturday the 21st. The forecast of steady 20 mph winds with gusts to 30 had me less than enthusiastic about getting out of bed at 3 AM to drive up but as my ace compadre pointed out, " you can't shoot deer lying in bed and...

    Bow buck number two !

Been waiting since October 1st for the weather and my work schedule to synch up. Can only hunt weekends and for some reason since the season opened in Ok on Oct 1 every weekend we've had N or NE winds. That just won't work with where I set up my bow stand. FINALLY got a break and yesterday AM...

    First bow buck !

Prior to this I had taken one doe with a bow and that was 22 years ago. Had quit bow hunting until I got bit by the bug again last year. I passed a couple of bucks on my lease in Mo last year because they just weren't quite shooters. Well last Friday Creedmore invited me to tag along to his...

    Well it turns out ......

The Garand is a good shooter. Got to the range yesterday with Creedmore in tow. Did the barrel break in while I was getting the rifle sighted POA at 100 yards. Creed starts giggling looking at my target through his scope. Seems to like 168 Custom Comps on top of 46.8 grs of BLC2 3 shots off...

I need to clean my loading bench more often

Seriously . I just found a box on the back corner of it with six 1 pound bottles of Benchmark in it. I think I bought them back in October but bow season was in full swing then and I had deer on the brain . That reminds me, I bought a lottery ticket last night. Better go check it.

    Powder for a progressive loading 223 ?

Recently bought a Dillon 650 to load 223 ammo to feed my ARs. Have been using Benchmark and it meters beautifully through the Dillon powder measure. Supplier is out of Benchmark and I'm down to a couple of pounds. Currently they have H335 , AR Comp and MR2000 in stock. Anyone have any...

Lightweight, inexpensive 308 bolt gun ?

Need some advice gents. In the market for a lightweight to use that will have to be carried quite a ways along w a climbing stand. Already know it's going to be a 308 as I have tons of brass and bullets on hand. Strictly a woods rifle, shots no further than 200 yards, most considerably shorter...

    264 WM + 130 AB @3350 = ????

Monday Nov 17th 12 degrees that morning and it started off slow. Had seen one or two does early at about 425 yards and that was it. My buddy Mark was in the stand with me that morning. About 9 AM he looks at me and says "there is a doe right here " Sure enough, 40 yards in front of the blind...

1st shot of the first hunt

Resident Canada goose season in Ok opened 9/13 We'd scouted this field the weekend before and found a few birds. 99 degrees Friday the 12th and 52 with 15 mph N winds at daylight on the 13th. That blast of cool air felt GREAT after a typical Texas summer. Anyhow, the first group of birds into...
