    LabRadar Chronograph

I just got the LabRadar last week and had it out to the range. I have to say this is most informative chronograph I've ever used and most reliable. I never had an error or missed shot, sometimes it wouldn't give me the 100 yard velocity reading but always gave me out to 75 yards. Even with other...

    210 ABLR + RL23 = :)

I picked up my 300 Win Mag from the gunsmith on Monday. This is the one that was sticking cases in the chamber. I decided to have it re-barreled with a Lilja. I went 27" 4 groove 10 twist. Other stuff I had done; blue print action, Sako extractor, 8-40 Screws, bed recoil lug, & Cerakote. I had...

    Off the deep end...

I was off to the big city this weekend and had a few hours by myself. I figured I better stop by the gunshops, not that I needed anything. Cabela's was a bust, a few interesting things but mainly overpriced for what it was. Scheels was much more intriguing. I was thinking about picking up a Sako...

I drew a Montana Bighorn Sheep tag!

Talk about shocked when I found out I had drawn with only a .35% chance of drawing! Not only that, its only about 50 miles from home so I can hunt lots of days.

    I'm liking RL23

I picked up a jug of RL23 recently and loaded up some 168 Custom Competitions with it today. Data is basically non existent, I extrapolated from Alliant's online guide for the Speer bullet. 75 grains came right up to the bottom of the neck and seating at 3.34" produced a slight crush. The group...

How concerned with weight variation are you?

Most of my rifle reloading involves brass that doesn't weigh much different than the test brass in manuals. I am careful with military 308 brass which is heavier than commercial brass. I segregate that stuff. My 300 Win Mag project is a little more tricky though. My Nosler 8 manual has all...

    Remington 700 trigger

My new Remington has a junk trigger and worst of all it is inconsistent in pull weight. My gunsmith likes and sells Trigger Tech triggers. I've also been looking at the Timney two stage. What do you guys like?

    Switching to 8-40 screws

Have any of you guys with heavy recoiling Rem 700s switched the scope base mounting from 6-32 to 8-40? I was at the gunsmith this morning getting my new 300 Win Mag threaded and he brought it up. To do the front one I'd have to remove the barrel. I thought about doing the rear 3 in 8-40 and...

    QL request 300 Win Mag

I'm pondering the probabilities of RL 17, 22, 23 & Retumbo. I've got Nosler 190 Custom Competitions, FC Military brass, Fed 215s. I don't have the OAL yet but somewhere around 3.34 seems likely. The Retumbo load is for a friend and he will be using Hornady 208 grain ELDM. If somebody could run...

    300 Win Mag dies

I'm picking up a new rifle in the next couple days. Its a Rem 700 Long Range in 300 Win Mag. I'm shopping for dies right now. I'm looking at the Redding Premium 3 die set with full length sizer, neck sizer, & micrometer seater. The sizers also have a carbide button. They seem like a pretty well...

    300 RCM

I'm thinking about picking one of these up fairly soon. Has anybody worked with this cartridge? Any favorite loads? Thanks!

How far off the lands for the ABLR?

I've had pretty results with the Accubond at about .1" off the lands. In my Creedmoor the 129 ABLR is showing contact at 2.95". I can't seat that far out and fit in the magazine anyway, I'm thinking I could go 2.85" or so reliably. I'm planning on trying these with RL17. The gun currently shoots...

    300 BLK QL request

If anybody would like to run a QL for me I would appreciate it. I'm looking to make some subsonic 300BLK. I've got 175 grain Custom Competitions and 180 grain Ballistic Tips. Looking at the existing data for heavier bullets and what I have on hand, I would be using Accurate 5744 and Alliant...

    Hush mode 308

I've been waiting patiently for this setup for a couple years now. Today was quite a reward for all that patience. Rifle is a Ruger Gunsite Scout in .308 and the can is a Advanced Armament 300TM. The can is all titanium and weighs just 15 oz, and it is rated for 300 Win Mag. It is incredibly...

    New scope for my Creedmoor!

I'm stoked! I was thinking about getting a new scope for my 6.5 Creedmoor, and when I wandered into my LGS today and asked about the one I was thinking about they plopped it down on the counter and that was all it took. I currently have a Leupold Competition 35x on it, which works fine on long...

    Quickload 308?

If one of you kind fellows doesn't mind running Quickload on my 308 load I'd be pretty thankful. I'm mainly interested in pressure as this is for a short barreled rifle. I'm running 140 grain Custom Competitions with 45.0 grains of AA4064, CCI 34 primers, in LC 13 brass at 2.62". Accuracy is...

    Neck bushing sizer dies

So I'm looking for a neck sizer for my .22-250. I was looking for a RCBS Competition Neck sizer, but it doesn't appear that they make them. I'm now looking at the RCBS Gold Medal Match Neck Bushing Sizer (10635). These don't come with the bushings and I'm not sure which ones to buy. Does...

    Ringin' steel

Today was a really nice day for Nov. 55 degrees and sunny although a little windy. Our range has a lot of new steel targets all the way out to 1000 yards. The regular part of the range was pretty busy so I just stayed off to myself on the steel. I loaded up some 77 grain Nosler Custom...

    BLR '81L 7RM

Today one of my coworkers mentioned he was selling a BLR '81L in 7RM. I wasn't really interested but he said he was looking for a .357 Mag revolver and I have a few of those. I wasn't really interested in getting rid of any of those either. I happen to have a few 4" SS Ruger GP100s and a few...

    Cerakote

My primary gopher rig is a Rem 700 in .204 Ruger. Its just a plain ADL but Remington sees fit to use ultra thin parkerizing that is like a screen door on a submarine in terms of rust prevention. This thing will rust just looking at it and it is really annoying. I live in a pretty dry climate and...
