Why is there a crimp ring on a 200 Grain Partition?

This is what was on the side of my Nosler Paritions

30/200
Caliber grain
(.308) Spitzer\CANN

50 Ct. 35636

Curious,

The cannelure that is on those bullets are for what you just said, crimping and to allow a more secure round during recoil. Recoil is heavier in larger mags and some rifles may benefit from that ring.

It won't effect your accuracy. Just look at Federal's rounds and Remington's rounds.
