My son loves cooking game. That night I think he broiled them wrapped in bacon, black beans, peppers, wild rice. From field to table in but a few hours...
Buck killed this yr with a 35 Remington. Fairly steep downhill shot on a quartering away deer. Using the speer 180 FP. Bullet entered high and back, exited middle of the deer right behind the shoulder. Deer made it approximately 60 yds, stumbling hard the last 20-30 yds and bleeding plenty heavy.
Drew a line on the pic showing the entry hole at the top of the orange line. Almost can't see it as it's tight against the stump. About as far back as possible and still catch lung on entry. Bullet had to travel a good ways to exit on that trajectory. Impressed with the 35 Remington so far on 3 deer.
Took this 7 point a couple days before Thanksgiving using a Tikka T3 Lite 6.5 Creedmoor and 130 gr. Berger VLD. Shot was about 300 yards, bullet passed through both lungs and deer went about 50 yards with a good blood trail.
