2024 Hunting Season

This afternoon I took a doe with the 35 Whelen to give to my Dad. He’s learning his hunting days have passed.
For the season we got 5 bucks and 1 doe. Funny part is the bucks are a 4,5,6,7,8 pointers.
Sorry to hear about your dad. Time has a way of catching up to all of us, whether we like it or not. With a degenerating spine, I'm experiencing some intense pain as the ulnar nerve is compromised at the level of the cervical spine. i can tell you this is no fun. Good that you are considerate of your dad. He no doubt was considerate of you in years past.

My kid and I visited the local WMA area for some ditch chicken slaying. My Drahthaar puppy has a nose on him but is blowing through points to try and catch the birds. I have work to do but his nose is amazing.View attachment 24442
That is some good looking ground, Happy kid. Well done. If you need a couple of those ground cages to hold pigeons or any other birds let me know. I have a couple left I would send you. They are old school, the kind you step on to release the bird when you’re satisfied with the point. I liked a check cord over an E collar for getting the point locked in. My timing was always off with e collar.

I spent a lot of time this year developing the best possible loads for my rifles. Heavies, light for caliber, cup-n-core, bonded, and everything in between. My first two times out during rifle season and my season was over before Thanksgiving. Most years I feel lucky to even get a deer. Strange days, indeed. I now have more than enough reloads now to last me the rest of my hunting days. I have decided this morning my goal for 2025 is to get my hunting buddy reloading before the fall...

I added a pic of my second buck that I have made a set of rattlers out of (7mmRM, 150g Partition over H4350). The third pic is me prepping my first buck for some bleach to finish off the euro.

That would be cool Don, thank you. I have a feeling I'd be better with a check cord also.
