Had the opportunity to partake in a moose hunt last week. My friend got the chance to test his load on a bull and thought id share some of the details.

300 WIN Mag
24" inch barrel
1:10" twist rate
220gr ELD-x
MV: 2800 FPS

Shot took place at 200 yards, bullet hit center shoulder and penetrated to the off side. 2 Shoulders taken out. Very violent entry, almost the size of a tennis ball, lots of damage.
Core and jacket stayed together and ended up weighing 120grs. About 55% weight retention.

Nothing wrong with that bullet performance.
Congratulations on a nice bull.

I had similar performance but a pass thru with the 200gr ELDX on my moose this year. High shoulder shot at over 300 yards. I’m pretty impressed with the ELDX bullets.
My buddy uses my old 300 RUM with the 220 ELDX factory ammo. So far he hasn't had a bull take a step. Nothing has exited, but nothing has moved a step either. I had excellent results with the 212 ELD in the 30-06 as well. Count me in as a fan of them.

Great hunt and thank you for the bullet report.
