I am running out of my preferred powder AA3100 and looking for a replacement. Does anyone have recommendations based on use ? I will be loading the 110 gr AB

I’d probably take a decent look at R22, 23, 26 and the similar IMR and H variants. RL22 and similar should make great speed for you. Good luck and post up what you get.

Back when I was using AA3100 in a 7 Rem mag it ran about the same as H4831. Jump forward a decade or so with different powders these days and I would take a long look a Retumbo. People with a regular 25-06 and 257 Weatherby have had great results with it. It sure makes my 264 Win mag scream with great accuracy.

My only dealings with the 257 AI was back in early 80's. I used IMR 4350 and the old Hornady 120HP. Being young and dumb, and since that rifle had a long throat, I was able to use Ackley's 'top load" for the 120! No chronograph then, so Lord only knows...:)

Where is "257 Ackley"? Joel would have some good ideas. Perhaps a search for his posts would turn something up...? CL

I had a 257AI about 10 years ago. Of all the appropriate powders tested, and I tested most, H4350 and RL22 were the powders which performed best with bullets from 85gns -120gns.
