Retumbo was my go to for 338 RUM also.

I ran 103.0gr behind a 225 AccuBond. 3140fps out of my 27" barrel. Absolutely crushed game.

I use a max charge of H1000 and frequently get groups under an inch at 300 yds.

I shot a 15 point moose on the shoulder with that load and he flipped over backwards. DRT

The bullet made its way through both shoulders before stopping under the skin on the far side. Remaining bullet weight was 140gr.

When you get ready for a screamer, I used the Nosler 180AB over a case full of H4831 for 3500fps! Shot a big Aoudad ( about 260#) at a tad over 250yds. Bullet acted like a Partition! Good luck to you,

You guys aren't helping...

....there's a NIB 700XCR down at the local hook and bullet for a screaming deal.

Jump on it buddy. The 338 RUM is a hammer on game and a sight to behold.
I have a lot of load data to share too. ;)

But you will never notice it when you are shooting at fur.

I shoot a differdent 250 gr bullet, but H1000 has been awesome. I have several 3 and 4 shot groups that are running a ragged hole.

Jake, what speed are you getting with H1000?

2995 with the Remington Brass.

I shot it out after 6 firings. Switched to Nosler brass and it looks like I'm going to have to drop down a full grain to get the same speed and accuracy. Same charge in the nosler brass got me to 3040fps. Groups opened up and was getting ejector marks.

I'm going to develop a load next spring using Nosler 338RUM brass and 250ABs. Managed to get 200 pieces of their 2nd brass through SPS. Dang spendy stuff.....

Thanks for the info

I am all ready to start reloading now

RP brass
CCI 250 primers
H1000 and Retumbo powder
250 Accubonds

I have been getting my brass ready.........
The XCR will arrive next week

Are you using a Muzzle Brake?

I added a Williams Brake after I started shooting the 300 gr AB's at 2700 fps.
The 250 gr AB's at 3000 fps w/o a brake will rock you from the bench but when hunting, you won't notice the recoil. I shot 24 rounds off the bench working up loads for my LSS and nephews XCR a couple times (12 per rifle) and I survived. :)

JD, I would have to ask how long did it take you to get rid of your headache. I went 19 rounds on the bench with 225 grain partitions and no brake. The headache lasted for about 4 hours and two aspirins later.

I shoot with custom molded plugs and muffs. Never had an issue. When hunting, I just use the plugs and its fine. If I can ever get a thread protector, I will remove the brake for hunting.
