Been awhile since I’ve been on here or the range for that matter. I recently picked up a 416 WBY that I’ve been wanting. Was sold as unfired but the barrel was pretty green inside , could have been from factory test and never cleaned since then.5CA73FC1-7E92-426C-91E3-8DCA2438864F.jpeg
Powder Valley was so kind to send me 10lbs of RL-26  . I made brass from Jamison 500 Basic and set off to start loading it with 350gr TTSX from Barnes.28A06E6B-A170-46C9-85FF-B6C048A4CC33.jpeg
I found that the Jamison brass is 20+ grain heavier than Weatherby brass. I did a pressure ladder last week and was happy with the results. Loaded up to 122.5grs and saw no pressure with RL-26 but it was compressed pretty good.CB61B1C0-D9EB-482C-AD9C-887B243B5464.jpeg
There is a wide node in the low 2900’s which almost matches factory Weatherby ammo with this bullet that they list at 2880 fps. I loaded some at 120grs and 122.5grs and tried for some groups. Now my neck and shoulder have been acting up again so I was a little off my game but I’m excited with the results 2A815854-FD9E-4BAC-BBBF-954F1DD7E12D.jpeg 5789B7D6-9231-4F85-A133-1A66D66365C5.jpeg
I might try seating them a little deeper and try again but I good with this and it might improve when I can get behind the rifle when the neck is better.

That runs off and leaves my 416 taylor improved in the dust [emoji16]. Man I bet that recoil is quite stiff at those speeds.

That's quite a thumper you got there, very nice. The 120 gr load looks awfully good already in particular.

It does get your attention but nowhere as hard like the 460. Fotis the middle picture has the velocity recorded with my Magnetospeed when I did my work up. I think one might get near 3100fps with RL-26 but case capacity would be an issue. I do have some Weatherby brass on hand I could try. I was looking for good load around 3000fps which I seem to have. I am going to work on the 122.5gr load some more to get it better. After seeing what the barrel looked like inside when I got the rifle I’m pretty happy with this.

Best I did in mine was 2950 with rl22 compressed but with norma brass

WOW. No wonder your neck hurts. Awesome load, speed and accuracy. Reminds me of the old Weatherby Delta. You could hunt T-Rex with this.

I'm using reloader 17 with the 330 GS custom I'm getting 3150 ft per second with it

That’s darn good. Jamison brass I’m using is way heavier than Weatherby brass. H2O capacity is 136.8gr.
Fotis do you have H2O on Weatherby or Norma brass?

Today the 416 was successful

I believe it has 7yrs since I had an opportunity to harvest a deer.
350 gr TTSX did its job
The only draw back was dragging it across the creek.

Well, congratulations! I'd ask if you had enough gun, but I suspect you are so committed to that rifle that you'd dismiss the question as not being serious. I am certain that'll provide some fine tablefare for your family. By the Way, did that fine beast run when hit? Again, congratulations on connecting with your deer.

Nice load development and congratulations on your doe with the 416 Wby. I'm going to work with mine this winter.

This morning the 416 and Barnes TTSX put another one down.

I’ll post pictures of entry and exit under bullet section. For now I’m very happy with this rifle and season
