Well, I loaded some loads for my new WBY last night. I received my 4 bags of 50, 160gr Accubonds and loaded them with R22 and CCI 250's. I loaded 5 at 61, 5 at 62, and 5 at 63. I am pretty stoked to see how they shoot. Hopefully load development will be easy with this new rife. I am still working on a accurate load for the M70 7mm Rem MAg. Either way, I will let you know how they work. They look pretty awesome with the Red Tips on them also. If I get to the range shortly, I may take it to Idaho with me for bear. Scotty

Sounds great. BTW in some of my 7mm rem mags I had to go to 66 gr RL 22 to get to Nosler's max.

63.0 grains RL-22 is Nosler's max with the 160 grainers and that is where my M70 shoots the partitions the best and 62.5 grains with the accubonds.

POP, do you mean you went 3 grains above Noslers listed max? In the #6 I have it list 63gr of R22 as max. I am all about testing about that, but I am just wondering if that is what you are saying. Scotty

YS, I am hoping that one of those three shoots well, I would like to take this rifle as a back up with me to Idaho this year for bear. I would like to use my 358 as the primary, but it would be cool to draw blood with the new 7mm Rem Mag. Those 160gr Accubonds look pretty nasty, especially with the RED tips! Scotty

Wow, that is an awesome group. You have to like those M70's (I have the same one in a 338 Win Mag).. Hopefully this new WBY stacks up and shoots as good as it looks. Scotty

Please post your results when they are ready.

Well, I will try it out if none of these other three pan out. Looking at the QL POP did for yours, you can about a 100FPS for the extra 3 grains. Not that I am crying about it, but if the 63gr load shoots well, I will probably stick with it for this year at least.

I will post up any results I get once I get to the range. Scotty

Correct! Again pending on the rifle!!!!! I have never, ever gotten 3000 fps with any 160 bullet in any 7mm rem mag with just 63 gr of rl22.

Good deal, thanks for the tip POP. If I have time I will continue to push upwards. 63gr's shot pretty well, so I will see if I can continue pushing upwards and see what it does. With the bear hunt right around the corner, I might stick with the 63gr load and see how it works. I can't see much trouble, it is still probably around 2850-2900. Until I can get a day to set the chrono up, I will just be guessing. Scotty

Some years back the guys at Sierra suggested that I work up to 65 grains of Reloader 22 with their 160 gr bullet for my 7mm Rem mag.

Did that - and wow! Over 3,000 fps and nice tight little groups. When switching to a different bullet, I'd do the work up again. What I learned though was that a healthy charge of Reloader 22, and a bullet of around 160 grains, works really well from the 7mm Rem mag.

Right now I'm messing with Reloader 22 and 168 Bergers from my 7mm Ruger Number One. Quite nice so far - velocity is hovering around 2945 fps with good accuracy.

I need to try some 160 Accubonds. Keep hearing that they're The Bullet for a general purpose mule deer, black bear and elk load for the 7mm RM. I've got a warm regard for the long & lethal 175 Nosler Partition for sure - that bullet got me one heck of a bull elk several years ago.

Well, maybe I will keep pushing it up. I will try 64, 65, and 66 next. I will see if any of those work out in the WBY. There wasn't a group out of the WBY that went over 1.25. I would think it would get a little better as pressures get higher. Scotty

Yeah - I'm not real worried about getting the highest possible velocity, I just want my rifles to shoot well. That said, I own a "magnum" for the high velocity performance. That's why they were invented, so I don't see any reason to load my 7mm Rem mag down to .308 Win levels of performance, like I see in some load manuals. Cracks me up, a 160 w/muzzle velocity of around 2700 - 2800 fps from a 7mm Rem mag... My .308 Win shoots a 168 gr factory load at 2730 fps, and I handload it to the same velocity level.

If that's all I wanted, I'd just stick with it, but I want about 3000 fps from a 160. Why? I dunno... Deer seem to fall over no matter what I hit 'em with from .223 - .45/70 and even the .50 cal muzzle loader...

That is a great point. I have hit up some other sites and my books and most of them push the 160 with 65-66gr of R22 also. So, as with anything else, experimenting is part of the deal. Your right, I own them for a reason and I want them to shoot like that. Hopefully the accuracy keeps as I continue to push the load. Scotty

Precisely!

I am going to load up some 64, 65, and 66gr loads today with the Accubonds and get them out to the range and see how they do. Thanks for all of the tips. I have been shooting so much I am wearing out brushes cleaning rifles (just kidding). I am kind of anxious to get started with my 338. I am still looking for something that shoots well in my 300 Win Mag. I don't think the 165 Interbonds are clicking with it. I will save the rest for my wifes 308. They would make an excellent elk bullet out of the 308 Win. I am going to try some 180-200gr bullets out of the 300 Win and see what they do. Scotty

I would think the 180 and/or the 200 grain bullets were just made for the 300 WM. I'm even impressed with the velocities and accuracy of the 200 grain AB in my .300 WSM.

It's not a Nosler bullets but I load for a friends .300 Win Mag and the 190gr BTSP Hornady over 73grs of H4831 is outstanding, simply outstanding in is Encore. I used Win Brass and a CCI 250 Primer.
