8mm RM

I have owned 2 of these and have loaded for 4 total in my time. All 4 were Remington 700's. Great round! Just had to sell a few guns to pay medical bills and this one went with some of the others I had yet to have gotten real close to.

Any particular load you're looking for?

Have shot the , 175 Sierra Gameking, 200 PT, 220 Sierra Gameking, and 220 grain Hornadys.

The 175's kicked the most it seemed while the 220 Sierra and 200 PTs were about tied for accuracy in the guns I have loaded for. I feel like most people would get along best with a 200 or 220 loaded to 2800-2900 fps in this rifle.

Just picked up my third. I seem to be attracted to this round for some reason :)
It is a M700 with a Six Enterprise synthetic stock.

For bullets, I still have some 180gr TSX, 200gr AB and 220gr Sierras. Thinking of starting with RL25. Got an upcoming elk hunt and want to try the big 8 out.

I purchased mine from my brother. He did have an odd experience with the Sierra bullets with this rifle. He punched one through the guts of a bull quartering toward him. Found the bullet in the back rear ham.
Except for the rifling marks and a slight bend, the bullet looked like it had just come out of the box.

I had one in a Remington 700 classic. Used a 200 TSX with RL-22, very accurate load. Also ran 220 Hornadys with RL-22 also very accurate.

Bill

Could someone run QL with the 180 TSX and 200 AB with RL25 and 7828 please?

RL 25 is like 108% fill so I ran 22.
I'll attach the RL 25 also

Great, many thanks. Some pretty impressive speeds.

I just tuned a neighbors older and well worn Remington 700 in 8mm Rem. Mag. using the Speer 200 FB SP that he had on hand.

I first tried 82.0 gr. of IMR-7828 but quickly switched to 72.5 gr. of IMR-4350 ....... and boom the groups shrunk to 3/8" for a 3 shot group and 1/2" 5 shot group. Not super fast @ 2800 fps but w/ a 24" BBL slinging 200 grain bullets I don't think a cow Elk will no the difference?

This gun was shooting Factory Remington 185 gr. core locks at a modest velocity of only 2885 fps@20' with groups hovering around the 2" range and the Safari Grade ammo into 3 inch groups at 100 yards. So from his perspective the loss of speed (if you think it was any) meant nothing in comparison to the reduced group size.

Sounds like an elk zapper to me. A 200 at 2800 would put the stomp on elk!

You got that right Scotty! Even though Speer made the 200 gr. 8mm Hot-Core for the Remington Magnum, these as well as a lot of other bullets tend to work better on Game when the velocities aren't at an extreme level.

Please keep us in the loop if your friend is able to take an elk with the combo and how it works. I have a pretty good idea, it'll work well, but being the looney's we are, it is always nice to know the after the shot stuff too..
