A Sad Announcement for Marlin Owners

That's says March 2010. I'm thinking it might be when they closed the North Haven plant. I do have three good Marlins though. Just in case!

Good catch, Scotty. I missed that date. It came in a packet of information provided from Outdoor Life this afternoon, and I failed to note the date. I suppose I was thinking in terms of the news of the proposed sale of Freedom Group, which could quite likely be disastrous for Marlin.

It has been done. The Marlin plant and any residentknowledge or skills have been extinquished. All that we can hope for is that there will be a leveraged buyout of the much diminsihed and having no goodwill left, Marlin operation. Maybe insiders will buy it and make it a good little startup for somebody who is skilled at that resusitation maneuver.

FG only did it to get rid of the union. They lost their well trained workforce and in doing so destroyed a brand beyond repair. They moved to the Right to Fire state of South Carolina.

Since Remington is being disassbled, that may bode hope for Marlin to become a leveraged buyout for emloyees or former employees in South Carolina. I would really be excited if the Marlin brand can be surgically excised from that mess called Remington and be rejuvinated in the Carolinas, union or not, preferable not but with the same pay. Marlin only had 235 employees in Connecticut. Maybe they could hire back some critical skills to launch a new Marlin.

If I had any money or connections, I would love doing something like this! I have the skill sets in Mangagement and even Tool Engineering, just not the wherewithall.
