to me a big heavy scope , on a range gun , needs a picatinny rail and rings .
you can stack coins between the rifle and scope to get an idea of how high it needs to be . then if you can get the height of the rail , you'll be able to figure out what height of rings you need .

As noted before picatinny rail my choice of rings would be warne and as low as possible
