What is in your opinion the smoothest most accurate slickest 44 mag double action?

Redhawk
dan wesson
SW 29-X
Anaconda
etc etc etc??????

Pop,

I love my S&W 629 Classic. Smooth and reliable, very accurate too.

I have had both Ruger Redhawk's and Smith & Wesson Model 629's. As far as the slickest and smoothest the Smith & Wesson Model 629's win hands down out of the box.

However my buddy has a Ruger Redhawk that has had an action job by a Gunsmith from Fergus Falls Minnesota that is as smooth & slick as any 629 I have fired.

In my experience I'd have to give the accuracy edge to the Ruger Redhawk.

I'd say my Super Redhawk, but then I took it apart to polish the trigger, hammer, and a few other parts plus changed out the springs as well.

Out of the box, I'd say a S&W 629 has the smoothest action. Great triggers.

Its a toss up tween the venerable #29 and the hot-sexy version, the #629. The rest are imitators.. 8)

So in a model 29 for strength which version do I look for?

29-3 29-4 ????????????????

Not the pin and recessed right?

I think the -4's and up have the endurance package in them so they are stronger.

My 29-2 is crazy accurate, I don't shoot it much and I only run light stuff to factory Win white box in it, but I hear they will rattle loose.

Well I just bought a 629 no dash recessed and pinned. I have been told with sane loads it will last a lifetime. This has been a dream of mine! Hopefully my gunsmith will rate it in fine health. Looks great and from what I heard there is no smoother smith out there!

My most accurate was T/C Contender with a super 14 barrel
I've had the Ruger Redhawk, Super Blackhawk.
My friend had the Anaconda and a Dan Wesson.
I would say the Dan Wesson is the smoothest and most accurate wheel gun with the S&W in second place.

My only 44 I have left is the 629

Velvetant - that's quite a revolver. Love the grips...

Pop - I can't see any photos of your new toy, please post up a couple of new shots when you can. Sounds like you got a good one. I've had three 629's, all were good. Fully intend on keeping this one!

For me, the .44 mag S&W 629 is pretty much a perfect outdoorsman's revolver.
